I painted this peacock using acrylic paint on cotton fabric. I got the pattern from the book "Painted Quilts". The original design is by decorative painter Sherry Nelson. I thought this would be a huge challenge but I really enjoyed painting it. It will hang in my living room!

Gorgeous!

That is stunning. Awesome colors and painting. You are so very talented. What brand paints did you use? Did you use the ones for painting on fabric?
|
Wow, that is impressive and beautiful. How did you find painting on fabric? I dabble in acrylics but have only painted hard surfaces that have been sealed so the paint slides on easily and is easy to thin with water. I would think painting on fabric would cause a lot of "drag" on the brush until you had a few layers down. This looks beautifully blended. Thanks for sharing

I used Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Colors. And yes, painting on fabric is a little tricky. There is a lot of drag but if you add too much water the paint soaks into the fabric. Once you get a base coat down it's pretty much like working on a canvas. The finished product is very stiff so I wouldn't recommend these paint for painting on clothing. |
BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Beautifal. Seriously beautifal. You are very talented.
You should enter that in all the quilt shows in your area. Fairs will be coming up too. Is that your first quilting with paints? You did a fantastic job. Makes me want to try it. ;-) |
Way too above the word beautiful!! Great job on the colors.
|
Oh, oh, oh. What talent. My daughter would love it. Want to make another one?
|
This is beautiful. Have a few questions: did you add fabric medium to your paint. If not how stiff is it and was sewing through the paint difficult. Did you use ready for dye muslin or what.
Hope you don't mind the questions. |
