I want to share my latest creation. I call it "Off My Sewing Room Floor." Yes, I took scraps off the floor, out of my bins, from my scrap basket and just played. Found unfinished blocks and leftover pieces from other quilts I've done. I wore it to the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA this last week. Had my pic taken with all my quilting gurus, including Nancy Zieman, Ricky Tims, Kaye Wood, and even Luveta, the Junk Jeans Lady. It was a lot of fun!

Wow, bet you were mobbed when you walked into the exhibit. So many of us admire these beautiful jackets, but way too conservative to let go and enjoy these gorgeous jackets. So glad you shared this with us.

I started with a jacket pattern that fit me and made a muslin base. Then I took the scraps of denim I cut into rectangles, started embellishing, then laid them on the muslin base until it was filled. I did the same with the fronts and the sleeves. So just go for it! Start digging into your stash, your notions and your imagination!

Anybody want to see the pics of me with my sewing gurus?
Barb

I got a picture of me in my silk tie jacket from last year with Eleanor Burns, Margaret Miller and Marti Michell as well.

Don't know how I'm going to top that next year!

You are very talented to have pulled this one great jacket off with scraps. I love it! :-)

joyce888 03-18-2011 06:45 AM

I instantly thought of the song by Dolly Parton "Coat of Many Colors". You are truly talented and your coat is wonderful.
