Be sure you write it down and do put a label on the quilt back with some details of who, why, where, and how. ;) Someone will love you forever for doing it.

Glad you were able to fix your "shift".
I had to fix one of my grandmother's quilts and she just stuffed and folded and trimmed till everything fit "just right". This grandma was not an heirloom quilter by any means. She was a make do quilter. My brother still has and uses that quilt (made 45+ years ago)!
