You really worked. The quilts should raise lots of funds.

pamesue 12-16-2010 05:09 AM

wow.....whatever you decide to do with them I am sure will make someone happy.

Elfi2 12-16-2010 05:15 AM

I can only say WOW WOW WOW to the beauty of the quilts and to the "express" work :-P
I love the pattern of the first ones and I actually have been thinking using it on one of my next quilts.

OmaForFour 12-16-2010 05:21 AM

Post them here on the board for sale. They are gorgeous!

sueisallaboutquilts 12-16-2010 05:59 AM

Gayle, they are all absolutely beautiful!!!! Wow, I'm amazed at your ability to get them all made so fast. AWESOME!!! :D:D

ladyinpurple135 12-16-2010 06:09 AM

I just love your quilts! I belong to 2 quilt guilds and they both make charity quilts of all kinds - and I am always looking for patterns that would make up easily. Would it be possible for you just give me a little sizing info on them - the top ones look like the center 'rail' is about double the size of the 2 outer ones - is that correct?

Thanks,
Sandy in Mooresville, NC

They are all beautiful. I wish I had your talent. It takes me forever to choose the fabric. I have two under my belt and several more planned. I keep reading the board my list of to do's will take me a long long time.

HisPatchwork 12-16-2010 06:51 AM

They will no doubt go exactly where they are needed most. What a blessing, to have them ready when you need them.

So.... about Thanksgiving time I asked my DH and he said "sure" if you want to make a few things. So..... I whipped up 11 quilts in 3 weeks time. I made 6 baby size, similar to the "Downey" quilts and 5 larger, lap size quilts using the warm wishes pattern. They are both really easy patterns and I can whip them up quickly. All the fabrics were pulled directly from my stash.

And the result.......... Hardly anyone came to the boutique, which I kinda had a feeling would happen..... and I didn't sell anything but a couple of old craft items that I dug out of the garage.

Sorry your fundraiser had such poor turn out. Congrats on all your lovely quilts. I'm almost jealous that you have the time to quilt like that.

Candace 12-16-2010 08:59 AM

Rats, that's disappointing.

MOPS is a "Mothers of Pre-Schoolers" program that we have at our church. They have these all over the country. It's a place for the mothers of pre-schoolers and young kids to get together, meet other moms, do a craft, eat a breakfast and listen to a great speaker about things that interest young mothers (or mothers of youngsters) We have a couple of 40 something moms in there as well as a gal who is a year older than me, already a grandmother of a 3 year old and pregnant.
Any way, I am their "Mentor Mom" The been there, done that, lived to tell the story. I help the steering committe run the program and am there to listen to and guide or just come alongside these ladies. It is a real blessing for me. I just wish that I didn't have to rush off to work after the meetings and that I could spend more time with them!

The stitch is a stitch on my machine. It looks like a zig-zag type stitch but is made up of several stitches. I just make it a longer and slightly narrower stitch length and it ends up as a back and forth "wave"
Yes, I did use my walking foot and followed along the ditch. It is a lot lot easier than trying to stay perfectly in the ditch!!!!
Try using some of your decorative stitches along the ditch.

My goodness, Gayle! I am amazed and awed ... and jealous -- all at the same time! I can only dream of getting 11 quilts done in 3 weeks. What wonderful work, and such beautiful quilts. You definitely are talented, and I can only hope that your talent will seap over the hill to my neighborhood. We are neighbors ... I'm in Somis. I have been wanting to introduce myself to you for quite a while now. I hope someday we can meet.

Too bad they didn't sell at the boutique. A lot of customers missed out on some very beautiful and well made quilts.

Harmony 12-16-2010 02:11 PM

It's been a long time for you--quick, eat something and then get some sleep!

Don't know how you ever managed this! Too bad you didn't have buyers. But you'll be ready next time!
