WOW!
I saw one like this last year of the last supper
also made by a man!
I wouldn't have the patience for the little pieces!

dkabasketlady 07-25-2010 08:05 AM

I'm going to steal, I mean borrow another board members words to describe this - FAN TAB U LOUS!!!! My DSIL lives near there and had sent me a pic of this! It's just amazing in person or so she says and she's NOT a quilter!

That is my sentiment exactly on this piece of work.

Toto's Mom 07-25-2010 09:46 AM

WOW!!!! My patience and Christmas spirit would have waned seriously by the end of the first year, never mind 4 years.
And I do counted cross stitch. What a gorgeous work of art!

justwannaquilt 07-25-2010 09:55 AM

Its beautiful!

I was actually just thinking about doing this last night while going through some old cross stitch stuff! hmm.

Ms. Shawn 07-25-2010 10:21 AM

cindyg 07-25-2010 12:10 PM

Spectacular. OMW I can't imagine doing this myself = WOW.

crafter005 07-25-2010 12:15 PM

That is breathtaking! There are no words to adequately describe it. In the words of mastercard (I think): priceless!

I have often had that thought about cross stitch. Back to regular patterns.

Thank you for sharing.

patricej 07-25-2010 12:47 PM

for years i've wanted to turn at least one cross-stitch pattern into a pieced quilt. the thought of trying to match thread colors to fabrics scared me silly.

miss_ticky2 07-25-2010 01:52 PM

That is incredible!

LeslieSkelly 07-25-2010 02:27 PM

WOW!! That quilt is very creative. Such a good idea to use counted cross stitch. I would never had thought about doing that....FANTASTIC!!!

dungeonquilts 07-25-2010 02:44 PM

And we thought "we" were good....WOW that is outstanding. It will be our next project after all the UFO we have going :)!! I was also in Amish country the last few days, the quilts that I seen handmade, the prices...outstanding!

Yes, I actually considered some of my cross stitch patterns as potential quilts but then realized the amount of work and laughed. This guy must have all the patience (and time) in the world! Just beautiful!

beachlady 07-25-2010 03:31 PM

All I can say is WOW!

Conniequilts 07-25-2010 03:38 PM

Stunning, amazing, fantabulous and bless your heart for your patience and great work!

texas granny 07-25-2010 03:39 PM

This is a really cool quilt

stpatmom 07-25-2010 03:52 PM

Thanks for sharing.......I can see it as a cross stitch pattern. I'm sure it takes real patience to translate that into quilting. Definitely a work of art!

JackieG 07-25-2010 04:41 PM

OMG!!! Beautiful!

mygirl66 07-25-2010 06:30 PM

Wow, that gives me a few ideas!

Jim's Gem 07-25-2010 06:30 PM

It's beautiful!! I have seen that cross stitch pattern and have also seen a couple other quilts that were created from other cross stitch patterns!!
Too many tiny pieces for me!!!

indycatcarol 07-25-2010 06:46 PM

WOW!!! I have a quilt I want to make using a cross-stitch pattern but it only has like 200 pieces. CAN NOT even think about 19,000 pieces.

littlehud 07-25-2010 07:17 PM

Wow, that is amazing. I can't even begin to think of that many little squares. Thanks for sharing.

wvdek 07-25-2010 08:19 PM

AnnaK 07-25-2010 08:42 PM

I'll bet it took 2 of those years to find the right color fabrics! What a work of art.

annette1952 07-25-2010 09:06 PM

Just amazing! 1" blocks are too small for me! Especially 19,000 of them! lol Glad everyone is different though so we can see these great quilts

earthwalker 07-25-2010 09:09 PM

What a mammoth effort. I hadn't thought of using cross-stitch patterns...I have a lot, but would never make anything that big. Thanks for sharing the pics.

cyniree 07-26-2010 04:13 AM

that is so awesome

SNUGQUILT 07-26-2010 06:41 AM

GORGEOUS!!! I can't even begin to imagine working with that many pieces! I just love this.....have always loved Santa pictures...

kat112000 07-26-2010 06:44 AM

WOW!!!

Tiffany 07-26-2010 06:45 AM

Wow! I've thought of doing the same thing, adapting a cross stitch piece for a mosaic quilt. I've been collecting 1-inch squares for years now to make a carousel horse quilt. Now that I can see how effective it is, I think I'm going to have to bump that project up on my list. Thank you for sharing this!

Wow!

gailmitchell 07-26-2010 07:47 AM

This is stunning. What a labour of love!!!

amandasgramma 07-26-2010 08:04 AM

WOW!!! I can guarantee you this -- I will NEVER attempt that quilt! AMAZING! thanks for showing us!
