Okay I know it's only a table runner, but after lots of practice, was still too nervous to take on bigger quilts I have waiting. Quite pleased with this, so will now nervously start on others!

tlrnhi 03-02-2009 03:40 AM

Great job! I love it!
Beautiful colors!

Quilt4u 03-02-2009 03:47 AM

Katrine 03-02-2009 04:28 AM

Thanks Terri - it's a gift for a cousin who is coming to France to visit early May.

Quilt4u - Yes, I've got 2 ready to quilt - just about to post pix of them.

thismomquilts 03-02-2009 06:06 AM

pocoellie 03-02-2009 06:10 AM

Beautiful!! You have nothing to worry about.

Alaskan lady 03-02-2009 06:11 AM

What a great 'card trick' table runner. Love the colors and your quilted flower border really sets off the squares. Great job!

LoriJ 03-02-2009 06:15 AM

Great job! I think you are ready to tackle the larger ones. I love the colors!

MollieSue 03-02-2009 06:16 AM

I love it!! Beautiful job on the quilting!! :D

sewjoyce 03-02-2009 06:34 AM

Beautiful! And I love the quilting!!

Marcia 03-02-2009 06:39 AM

Okay Katrine I have to honestly tell you what my reaction was when I saw your table runner---

*gasp* "Oh my gosh, that is GORGEOUS!!!"

I am trying SO hard to learn to FMQ and I think you did a fabulous job!!!! Thank you for sharing-maybe someday mine will look that good too!!!

Katrine 03-02-2009 06:48 AM

Many thanks everyone for lovely comments.

Marcia - keep going - I am enjoying it & not worrying too much about little hiccups anywhere.

What I find I just can't get on with is the extension table to the machine, and have been working without it. It seems to put everything too far away - I like to be really on top of the needle. Does anyone else have that trouble?

beachlady 03-02-2009 06:58 AM

Great colors and quilting in your table runner. Starting small is a good idea!

tuesy 03-02-2009 07:32 AM

This is your first one?? OMGosh!! I must've been passed over on the FMQ gene because my first one never looks this beautiful.

Yvonne 03-02-2009 07:48 AM

I'm impressed! You've done a wonderful job on your table runner. I like that quilting pattern and may have to try it.

Katrine 03-02-2009 08:01 AM

you ought to see the practice squares in the bin tuesy!

Bevanger 03-02-2009 08:05 AM

gcathie 03-02-2009 08:08 AM

Oh that is very pretty and the quilting is darling!.......a quilt is done one block at a time....if you don't like how the block comes out ...redo it.....keep at it till it's the size you want .....that's what I do ....one block at a time....and card trick is a tricky pattern for a first.....great job!.....:-)

Sharon M 03-02-2009 09:01 AM

I think you did terrific job of FMQ. Lovely gift

SulaBug 03-02-2009 10:31 AM

Wow, you don't have to be so nervous to start a bigger project now!! :D Your table runner is absolutely gorgeous. I just love it!! :D Keep up the great work & remember to share, as you go along.

BlueChicken 03-02-2009 10:50 AM

That's awesome!

Did you use a stencil or do it freehand?

Every time I try and follow a pattern I end up with a big ugly mess, but free hand I'm much smoother. Trouble is the pattern doesn't end up even.

Katrine 03-02-2009 01:07 PM

It's freehand Blue Chicken - and it isn't even, and the flowers are all slightly different, but it doesn't matter - I think the charm of fmq is the freedom of it and uniqueness.

sewnsewer2 03-02-2009 01:38 PM

Very pretty runner and you did an excellent job on the free motion!

mommaB 03-02-2009 02:23 PM

Hey!!!! You did a great job :D :D :D I'm trying to learn and I'd say you are doing terrific!! Its way harder than you'd think, isn't it? I can sure understand that you "only" wanted to do a table runner!!! Its scarey!! But you're over the hump..hurray for you :!: :!: :!: :!:

Lynette Ebbitt 03-02-2009 04:03 PM

Love the quilt but love the puppies. I have two Yorkies and they are my loves. I have the father and daughter

BlueChicken 03-02-2009 04:19 PM

That's fantastic, you've done a really good job!

And you've inspired me to have another go at doing a pattern instead of just stippling.

Thank you! :-)

Janstar 03-02-2009 04:22 PM

Beautiful Table runner Katrine and your quilting is perfect! Keep up the good work.

Debbie1 03-02-2009 04:22 PM

You did a fantastic job, loved everything about it! I really like the card trick pattern!

barnbum 03-02-2009 05:24 PM

That is awesome quilting!! You should be very proud!! I can't do that--so I admire those who do!!

Shemjo 03-02-2009 06:08 PM

Beautiful Card Trick FMQ! Proud of you that you DID it!
I have done lots of in the ditch, but haven't tackled a design yet! Still using the walking foot! :? That is inspiting!

rosemary128 03-02-2009 06:12 PM

Looks fantastic? Do you have a stitch regulator on your machine?

Jim's Gem 03-02-2009 06:16 PM

Beautiful table runner. I am really impressed with your quilting!!! You can't be a beginner! It is lovely. I need to really work on mine, I've done a couple of meandering but havn't tried any type of pattern or anything like that, yet

littlehud 03-02-2009 06:20 PM

That is awesome. I love it.

sharon b 03-02-2009 08:43 PM

Amazing, both the quilt and the quilting
Sharon

Katrine 03-02-2009 10:52 PM

No, Rosemary, no stitch regulator, but I set the speed at just under half. I also used 60/2 thread on this so it looked "fine" on the neutral background.

Barb M 03-02-2009 11:11 PM

Oh that is just gorgeous! Now you have me excited because i will be trying free motion quilting in 2 or 3 weeks, and i was thinking of doing what you did in your sashings, and wondered what it would look like, and yours looks wonderful! Ok, if you can do it, i can do it, right? Maybe? lol :) :) :)

Katrine 03-02-2009 11:39 PM

Of course you can Barb - I'm very much of the "if I can, you can" - I'm only learning. And I do think the finer thread helps, cos it is difficult to spot the "whoops".

Barb M 03-03-2009 12:00 AM
