Congratulations on your first quilt. It is very pretty.

NURSEYBOY 05-04-2010 08:46 AM

I love using squares to make a quilt and you have done a great arrangement of the colors. That's not always easy to do! Don't quit now. Try something harder with pieced blocks. But not too hard so you can still be sucessful. I have a friend who always picks very difficult blocks and then sweats over getting it done, asking for help. I would rather make a simple quilt and get it done sucessfully.
Keep quilting.

Bevanger 05-04-2010 09:15 AM

i honestly think you did a very good job.....Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see your second & third etc...

JanetM 05-04-2010 09:18 AM

Your quilt is beautiful...good job  Don't let your sister's lack of enthusiasm influence you. She probably doesn't understand the effort and skill necessary to make a quilt; accurate cutting, accurate sewing matching all those seams, quilting, and binding.

Keep going...you are a QUILTER ;-) ;-) ;-)

jodimae 05-04-2010 10:10 AM

It's beautiful, great job!!

mytwopals 05-04-2010 10:37 AM

Looks good-congratulations

Ramona Byrd 05-04-2010 07:36 PM

Your sister isn't too thrilled?

Teach HER to quilt, that will make her understand the love,
work, time and money that goes into a hand made quilt.
And maybe you can quilt together later.

Rainy Day 05-04-2010 07:38 PM

You have many new sisters who would love it!! Pink is not my colour, but I think it looks great - and I am impressed that you finished anything - I am still finishing tops to quilt.

Pickles 05-04-2010 08:39 PM

I really like your quilt, you did a fabulous job , and I would
just make them for yourself for a while and let them come to you if they want a quilt, that way you'll know when you make it
that it will be wanted and loved. Everyone here has gave you some good advice and we all love your work so keep quilting

happynana 05-05-2010 03:15 AM

i love the soft colors in your quilt-you did a great job for your first one. People are funny aren't they? I made my MIL a wall hanging a couple of years ago for Christmas, put alot of time and effort into it, and she hardly glanced at it when she opened it set it aside and i found it in a closet when i went to clean out her house.

This is me totally!! Before I've even finished a project I'm thinking about what I'm going to title my picture thread. :D I definitely get the best response and feedback from this group. I really love it here. :)

To the original poster, your quilt is lovely and is very good for a first! I'm sorry you didn't get the response you were hoping for from your sister. Like a lot of members have already stated, I don't think non-quilters understand the work involved in making a quilt. I recently gave my mom a wall hanging I made for Mother's Day and though she was thankful and said it was beautiful, she didn't give me quite the response I was looking for. She just didn't seem real excited about it. My husband suggested the same thing a few other members did. Make some stuff for myself and just keep the next few projects.

Great job and looking forward to seeing your second!

JenniePenny 05-05-2010 04:21 AM

This is a very pretty quilt and you did a great job with it. I know it feels really excellent to finish one!

frogella 05-05-2010 04:27 AM

It is beautiful. Congrats on your first quilt!

I think it is beautiful. Most people don't realize how much work goes into making a quilt. You did a great job.

Oklahoma Suzie 05-05-2010 04:58 AM

Good job

charvan 05-05-2010 05:10 AM

Congratulations on your first quilt. The colors are lovely, and go well with the pattern. You did a terrific job on this; don't know why she wasn't thrilled to pieces.

JayCee 05-05-2010 05:37 AM

Welcome to the addiction of quilting. Do it because you enjoy the process and the result, not for what others think.

Maksi 05-05-2010 05:39 AM

That's a nice one for a first quilt! You did a very good job!

cindygale 05-05-2010 06:05 AM

bevannthomas 05-05-2010 06:12 AM

I think you did a wonderful job... I think you should have kept it for yourself.... sounds like you would appreciate it more. People don't know the work it take to make a quilt.

HisPatchwork 05-05-2010 06:58 AM

I love it!{I love pinks} Good job! I always have a hard time giving away a quilt. I would probably have shown it to her and depending on her response, kept it for myself. Especially when it was my first one.

quiltinanna 05-05-2010 07:13 AM

I think it's beautiful. :D

Quilter2B 05-05-2010 07:27 AM

Sheree from Chicago 05-05-2010 09:13 AM

Congratulations on your first quilt! It is very exciting, and you did a beautiful job!

Pete 05-05-2010 10:18 AM

Can't believe it is your first --fantastic job. When I display my first (a Dresden Plate that took me 20 years to finish), I place it on my bed and have folks stand outside in the hallway to look at it --- too many errors to see if they came in the room. Thank goodness my colors look good from afar.

Obviously your sis doesn't do any type of sewing or crafts -- if so, she would appreciate it for what it is - a beautiful quilt made with love that will keep her warm, soothe her aches, and hold her tears!

graciebass 05-05-2010 10:24 AM

I think it is so pretty, love the colors

littleone 05-05-2010 10:38 AM

Wow, love your quilt, for a first one you did a great job, keep on stitching and having fun

Fabricnut 05-05-2010 01:18 PM

I think you did very well and should be proud of yourself. I'm still working on my first quilt which I started 3 years ago. I still have to put the binding on. My first quilt cost a bunch because of all my mistakes in picking out fabric. The local quilt shop lady really helped me "fix" the color scheme. The quilter who quilted it for me had to take off the borders and square up the inner part before she could put it on her machine. That cost a bunch more. It has turned out well and I'll put in on our bed soon.
So don't be discouraged, just start on another project.
I'd post a picture but I don't know how (maybe my granddaughter can teach me.)

SuziC 05-05-2010 01:22 PM

I can't imagine not liking that. It's adorable. I think you did a wonderful job!!
