I wanted to share two "old " quilts of mine...

The first is on my bed. It's the wedding quilt my mother made for us almost 22 years ago. When we got married my mother told me to choose a pattern and fabric and she'd make whatever we wanted ....I chose a sampler and picked the fabrics and she got busy............soon after my brother got married and Mom figured she could have it actually done by his wedding so my brother wound up with my wedding quilt. She told me again to choose a quilt again and I knew she didn't want to make the same quilt twice in a row, so I chose this pattern, a replica of one she had made when I was a child.....

The second one is an angel wallhanging my older sister made for me. I was very ill back in the 90's and had to have multiple surgeries...my sister made this for me telling me that she felt I could use some angels looking over me. Little did I know that she herself would become very ill and die not too long after she gave this to me.....I finally got it hanging up again this week and it's in my sewing area where I can see it every day.

Ohhhh, that makes the quilt from your sister even more special, as she is now one of YOUR angels. Both quilts are beautiful.

Beautiful quilts! So nice to have them given to you and the memories.
I made my sister one when she was ill, I had planned on bring it home with me when she passed, but meet her neighbor who took the summer off to spend with my sister and I gave it to her. We lived across the country from each other.

Absolutely.

The blue and white quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Love the quilting around the hearts, love that she fussy cut all those flowers and love the entire color combination. To me, it is an exceptionally beautiful quilt. :D

Hey BK in CO, I have that same quilt pattern! the Angels all around (?) I've made that one a couple times as a baby quilt in pastels, and lately, I've been thinking about making it again , for myself this time; how funny! And your other quilt is fantastic!

Thank you for sharing your stories behind your quilts. Besides both being beautiful it helps us to know how special they are to you. They may even inspire some of us to make that special quilt or wall hanging for a loved one in our life :)

How lucky you are to have the quilts to remind you every day of your families love. The heart quilt is especially sweet and I think the fabric is wonderful.

Love them both....all the fussy cutting of the flowers in the little blocks...took time and well worth it...
Simply beautiful...

Sure,
the pattern is in McCall's Quilting magazine April 1998, I was right; it's called Angels all around.
