2 Medallion quilts finally finished

4 Attachment(s)
The first one has a machine embroidered centre, this design came with my new machine so stitched it out and then forgot about it, until one day when cleaning up I found it and decided to do "something" with it and this is the result. All the fabric came from my stash and I had it longarm quilted with lots of feathers. The longarmer took 7 weeks and I had it back.
My DD has claimed this quilt.
The second quilt I started 2 years ago at a retreat, it is a pattern matched LeMoyne star. The original pattern had the stars in the centre and fans in the border and was 60 inches square. I just used the centre pattern then turned it on point and added the outer star border, it ended up 106 inched square. My "old" longarmer had this quilt for 16 months before I finally picked it up. I heard every excuse in the book as to why she was doing it and considering that she has 2 computerised Gammill machines it was still unacceptable that it took so long.
This was made for my bedroom

Oops the third photo was supposed to be the LeMoyne Star

hockeymom444 10-14-2012 04:35 PM

WOW! Beautiful!

cowgirlquilter 10-14-2012 04:35 PM

Absolutely stunning! Love it....and best of luck with your long arm person.

cindy4857 10-14-2012 04:37 PM

They are both stunning! I couldn't decided which one I liked better if I had to. Wish I could get a closer look at the lam.star to see what the quilting came out like after 18 months. If it were mine, I'd of forgotten what it looked like in that amount of time. You ended up with real Heirlooms. Great job.

These quilts are gorgeous and so perfectly made. You are the best!

Your quilts are beautiful, thank you for sharing.

dunster 10-14-2012 05:03 PM

They're both fantastic. The 2nd is my favorite. I love the kaleidoscope effect in the stars. Also love the log cabin blocks in the 1st quilt.

debcavan 10-14-2012 05:14 PM

Beautiful, just simply beautiful. You make great tops. I would not have been able to wait that long to get a quilt back. I am sorry that happened to you

Kate_W 10-14-2012 05:23 PM

Ummm, maybe your long-arm quilter was intimidated? After all, those are heirlooms with such attention to detail and workmanship. They are beautiful! And inspiring and thank you!

QuiltE 10-14-2012 05:24 PM

MiraB ... you already know I love these quilts!
You used the perfect fabric for the kaleidos ... and worked it in perfectly to showcase as a reference fabric too.
Your embroidery is incredible!!

A Double Well Done to you! :)

tulip43 10-14-2012 05:28 PM

Both Quilts are Beautiful. Great work

Kate_W 10-14-2012 05:28 PM

OK, follow-up to cutting the LA quilter slack and for the record, I could not wait that long. Especially given the work you had invested in those beauties. You were very patient. And your quilts are beautiful!

Wow they are both beautiful!! I can certainly understand why DD claimed the first one - if she changes her mind, you can always send it to me. LOL! :)

Kate she had quilted some other tops for me, but every time I asked her about this one I seemed to get the run around. I think I have heard every excuse under the sun. Unfortunately I will not be using her again and have found another longarmer whose turn around time is significantly shorter. Her Gammill is computerised so not sure about being imtimidated, I think she just gets side tracked a lot

Diane007 10-14-2012 07:42 PM

wow wow wow..

just as Cindy 4587 said, both stunning quilts and I too would have liked to see more of the 'epic' LA'ing work. Fabulous work, you should be very proud of your work.

Both quilts are just stunning! I have made a lemoyne star quilt but mine wouldn't hold a candle to yours! I don't know how you could have waited so long to get it back!

I think 18 months to do is not right. Guess I would see if I could find another Long Arm quilter.
