When our Mother was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 6 months to live, her one and only request was that she could die at home. My Dad had never cooked a meal in his life, and did very little housework, so this was a challenge. My two brothers stepped up to the plate, and went there every single day to help....I was able to go up on my days off to relieve them. I felt they went above and beyond in their compassionate care for our Mother. We were able to grant her final wish.
I could think of no other way to thank them than to make them each a quilt - straight from my heart. It took me almost 6 months to complete these, but they were totally amazed I did this for them, and truly were appreciative. My brother John is an avid mountain climber, my brother Jeff is an avid forest hiker/mushroom hunter. I used batiks almost exclusively. Now this is wonderful. Both the handiwork and your sweet hearted ways. Speaks nicely about you and your family.

wonderful quilts, and sounds like a wonderful caring family.

Those are both awesome quilts! And from someone who has lost both parents to cancer, I understand! Even though I was the main caretaker, my brothers stepped up when I needed them. I hope you will always have close relationships with your brothers.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Many of us have faced similar situations, but did not have such caring and attentive family members to help. To hear about your brothers stepping in as they did is heartwarming. I am sure the quilts will always be special to them because they represent your appreciation for all they did. Your Mom must be smiling from ear to ear!
God Bless |
WOW! Very nice!

Beautiful quilts and lovely sentiment.
Sorry for your loss but it sounds like your Mother was a sweetheart and therefore you and your family are following in her sentiments. I have two sons that live in a small town in Central OR. It is gorgeous there. They are out on the trails all the time. People in Oregon are outdoors all year long. Your choice of fabrics and patterns are so right. Quilter68 |
