It's a pretty heavy quilt for being so thin, and the fabrics are not soft, kinda rough. the yellows and some blues are softer like a dress material. the others could be feed sacks.

It looks like a Boston Commons or a variation of a Trip around the world. Those are most certainly feedsack fabrics. They look loosely woven on my computer. Such a lovely old quilt!

wow, have no idea how old, but a pretty quilt, bet it was beautiful when first made!

There are professionals that can date the quilt for you. Perhaps checking online for some in your area. The quilt is a treasure tho' no matter its age.

That is beautiful. I wouldn't know if it's a 30s quilt but I love it.

Thanks so much for posting such a detailed view of this old beauty. Can't help much with a date, looks 30's, but maybe there is some older fabric in there too?
Interesting isn't it....many of us could say we have some vintage or at least old fabric in our own stashes - all mixed in with the new/current. I am guessing this is not a new phenomenon, must make it a little trickier for the valuers. Anyway, look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks. Please let us know if you end up getting an appraisal of some kind, would be really great to see what an experienced valuer would say. |

very nice....looks as loved as my daughters baby blanket. I love it.

It is beautiful and I would say the '30's sounds about right. I have one that my great-grandmother made and it is solids so it is harder to date. It is in much worse condition than yours but I love it none the less!
Enjoy it -- it's a treasure!! Pat in Atlanta |
