I'm doing it too, and keeping up.
One of the rules I made for myself starting, which has helped me to keep up, is that I do not rip out seams and redo blocks, even if I make a weird inversion or have a blunted point. I figure that with a quilt this busy, being super persnikkity about tiny variantions simply won't pay off. Plus which, it's symbolic. For a block a day, there are going to be some blocks/days that just don't go as planned or which aren't my favorite. So far, I've only "cheated" / substituted a technique on one block -- that wretched 6 inch block with 18 mitres -- so not my thing. Your photo looks great. Are you adding more colors with each additional round of blocks, or are you sticking with the established color scheme? So many decisions. |
I'm working on it, too, but I'm afraid I'm not as far along as you are....*ahem* Hiding my head in shame!

Great job on that challenge! I've printed out most of the blocks, but not all. Some did not appeal to me at all, so I'm hoping to substitute a different block for them. I haven't started sewing yet, so who knows if that will ever happen. Also, I'm planning on a scrappy quilt. Time will tell. But your quilt is looking mighty fine!
For those of you who are interested, they will be doing it again next year. It starts easy and gradually gets harder. Great way to get yourself in that sewing room once a day, even if it is only long enough to do one block....
I'm doing scrappy, but keeping with the light/dark colors.
What a great quilt! Make sure you post a picture of it when it's all finished.
that's great. Keep up the good work.
I'm planning on doing it this year
http://us12.campaign-archive2.com/?u...&id=127d5d55fc I'm not and you don't have to be a facebook user. you can subscribe by email, easy peasy. I don't normally do anyone else's projects other than Bonnie's mystery, but this looks fun. And I do like small blocks I wouldn't consider it if I weren't retired :) |
Very nice - I haven't started mine yet !
I'm doing yellows, flowing into cheddars, flowing into browns. I'm excited!

At one point I was behind 40 blocks. But I caught up on 12/12. I did not print patterns. I may go back and do it this year? Advice, finger press, use her instructions (you will learn a lot). Measure as you go on each block, not just the end size. |

Lovely...giquilt...great planning of color placement.
I got stuck for time in February and couldn't catch up...I have about half the patterns downloaded as Pdf's..Will it still be considered a UFO if the patterns are still available, asks a UFO queen? |
Looks great to me. Love your colors.
I got pretty far behind. So, it looks like I just have a good start on it for this year.
Giquilt: That is gorgeous! Congratulations on making it all the way to the end.

Beautiful quilt! I am pretty far behind on the blocks but seeing yours gives me hope of catching up.
thank you for sharing giquilt! I did a bonus block yesterday. bearpaw bowtie. love the pattern. I didn't have enough contrast between the darkest blocks and the bear toes. Obviously I need to better judge that. Not much to be seen when the individual toes finishe at 1/2"
today's 4 patch seems enormous by comparison. sewing Bonnie Hunter's mystery together today. |
That is awesome!! You did a great job on it!
I have all the patterns but haven't started the quilt yet. Maybe someday. Yours looks great. Congratulations on the finish. BrendaK

It is very pretty, but I would not have the patience for 3" blocks. Good for you for sticking to it!

I followed the link in post #49, but it didn't take me to the site. who's page is this, where can I find it? i'm on FB. but will go whichever way someone points me. I like little stuff, I can do along. any old links to that fab quilt. is it still available? Thx.
I found it on FB. do I have to get it 'in the mail' everyday, or can I just go to her site and pick up the blocks whenever I want, and can we find the archive? of the blocks? just wondering.

My first week's worth for 2017
I had a heck of a time getting the drawing site to work. I could have possibly have three entries, two without images but when I was finished the software showed me with no entries. I didn't dare try again for fear of getting kicked off the planet. My favorite block was the bowtie bearpaw, I'd like to make some more of these. My bear claws were too dark, so I penned in gold paint. Ever the lazy bum :) I'm also showing my ort jar of clippings and my mothers sewing basket with my leaders enders. Can you believe that was someones total tools receptacle? |
Kalama...love your blocks and creativeness...I'd call it the least path of resistance:D...and the use of the word "orts", a word my dear aunt always used...I have a 2 jars of tiny 9P's and 4P's, both finish at 1 1/2", just waiting for a project...
giquilt, Your quilt is gorgeous!!! What an accomplishment--WOW I love it.
Thanks for sharing. Karen |
Could someone tell me what I am supposed to type in so I am able to find the site on FB? Thank you
Beautiful ! GREAT Job ! Could you tell me where to go to check out the blocks. Thank you
I can't wait until she gives us the patterns for the center part. thought I might find them on pinterest if I ever get them and other stuff all caught up. HA. HA never happen, being caught up on everything....
kathilynne, here is a link for you that should work http://www.365challenge.com.au/the-blocks/ this is where I registered, and indicated I'd like the daily pattern in my email. It comes in about 6 AM here on the west coast USA.
and the facebook link https://www.facebook.com/search/top/...quilt%20blocks I started out printing out the pdf, but that is a LOT of ink because they are in greyscale to indicate where the darker fabrics in each block go. So I just draw them on old envelopes :) working on my fourth week now. |

bless her heart, bearisgray donated some fudge colored fabrics and some figural fabric to my 365 quilt.
My quilt color is brown to orange to yellow. for the first two or three months we are working with darks. here are four fussycuts that will finish at 3". Thank you Sharon :) too fun to be legal. |
Oh too cute!
That is so pretty.
we are into our 6th week now! Time goes by so quickly. Making hour glass block now..
SO, I have started this. hope I will be able to 'make' the blocks, as they get more difficult. I usually save up several days worth of blocks, then pull out the material for them. then switch back to something else for several days. does she give any hints on how to make the blocks anywhere? like we had dear jane hints? yes, using up lots of ink, printing off the patterns. I should just take the laptop to the basement and work from it. will have to get my grdkds to show me how to save the blocks somewhere.
Great Job!
