I received this from my Mom yesterday. There are no words to describe how I felt when I opened the Box. Mom also sent the story behind it: Her Granny had pieced tog the squares but she doesn't know when. Granny passed away before Mom's 10th birthday in 1949. The top was tucked away in my Grandma's ceader chest for a few years then she had the lady across the street put on the backing and quilt/tie it. Mom was in her teens at that time.

SWEET!! I, too, am a recipient of a quilt my great great grandmother made. It does grab you in the heart, doesn't it?!?!
|
Me and your quilt are about the same age! The quilt is in much better shape than ME! Love it and treasure it. Thanks for showing us.

What a wonderful story!! What a great keepsake!! You are so lucky to have something from your Great-Grandmother.

I would love to use it but it is very fragile. A few of the squares are coming apart. It was all handstitched. I plan on putting it my ceader chest. Any suggestions for better keeping?

Touching hands across time, such a special thrill.

What a gift! Don't you just love the old fabrics. To have someting that a family member made is precious. I'm working now on some blocks that my grandmother made. They are from the 30's or earlier.
