6-7 years later??

I started this quilt for my Granddaughter Rayna Skye about 6-7 years ago, she was about 7-8? Any way she will be 15 on Christmas eve, and I kept telling her for Christmas this year for sure, well still not done. I finally finished her top but I told her it may be another 5 years before it gets quilted?? She still loves it.

It's a beauty. The time has enhanced it!
This is such a neat quilt! But what is the problem with quilting it? Do you do your own quilting? Long arm or domestic machine? I just wish she could have it:)
Very cute! Better late then never.:)
Looks like it will be a great graduation quilt! This is one of my favorite patterns. Love your fabric choices.
What a darling quilt. Please get it quilted for her.
I can't quilt my own quilts, right now just don't have the funds to do it, hubby goes back to work Monday, after being out of work since Oct. Had surgery on both hands and he'll be 73 this year. I love him so, our Granddaughter lives with us.

great quilt!!!
This may be a good time to have a professional do the quilting, so your DGD has her quilt and you have this jewel off your mind.
Nice job. I did this pattern years ago for a GK. That did me in with paper piecing
Beautiful, super fantastic, adorable awesome quilt. love the colors and the design. I want it. best quilt i've seen in a long time. all the bells and whistles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a beautiful quilt! It's proof that wonderful things take time. Your granddaughter is growing up alongside the quilt and will treasure it forever.
What a neat quilt! I could see where the design would be great for a young child and also suitable for a teenager. I wish you luck in quilting it.
Oh get it done for her. It is wonderful. Maybe tie it, you can make her another one when she gets older and have enough to get it quilted. Or maybe you'll be good enough on your sewing machine to quilt it yourself then. It is so pretty, get the batting and backing when you can and tie it with colored embroidery thread to match. Or pretty silk thread to match.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words. It will get quilted at some point and time.
You've created an adorable quilt!
Your quilt for your granddaughter is one of the most charming quilts I have ever seen! I like the fabrics you chose. I think this needs to be a priority. You can quilt it yourself if funds are not available to have it done. The quilting can be simple such as crosshatching or channel type quilting. Or, watch some videos (lots of free ones) and practice on some muslin sandwiches if you want some motifs. I know you would really please your granddaughter and that would be worth all the effort.
Thanks so much, I may give it a try.
Beautiful. I bought that pattern several years ago but it is beyond my talents. I gifted it to a friend and hope she makes it.
Git er done!!! She will be grown soon...lol...it's so cute!
To finish it up, Could you tie it? I prefer quilts to be quilted but tying is sometime the way to go.
You live in NY. You may be surprised that you can afford to quilt it. If it's the cost of batting and backing you can use a blanket you may have around the house and another spare sheet. Either can be cut down to size if need be. You don't state how large the quilt is. If you don't have a quilt frame, it's easy to make your own with DH's help. Sweet Petals site shows how and maybe get your granddaughter involved in the hand quilting. (Just a suggestion/another idea).https://www.youtube.com/user/mysweetpetals a series of videos

I'm reading your post where you say "granddaughter lives with us." Is this the same granddaughter for whom the quilt is intended? She is fifteen years old. Time to teach her to quilt it up, be a co-creator. You be the teacher. Spread that beauty across your bed, baste it together and JUST DO IT. Need to free up some cash for the final thread/binding/backing? Eat cheese and crackers for a week, clean out your pantry and freezer, and trade/swap/barter with your friends. Ask and ye shall receive...

Oh, my word! What a treasure! Excellent choice of fabrics! A nature lover would enjoy this quilt at any age, I would think. My husband made a pond in the backyard, and we'd enjoy a pattern like that. We sometimes forget that hand quilting is always an option for people who don't want to struggle with a large quilt under their domestic machine, or don't want to pay someone else to quilt. :-) Hand quilting can be beautiful, and can be done successfully with a hoop, if you don't have access to a frame or room for one. Anyway, a simple frame is very easy to make.

AWESOME!!! You did a fabulous job on this!
It's a beautiful quilt - so many interesting and colorful blocks. You picked a pattern that will stand the test of time and executed it perfectly - she will love it whenever it's ready for her!
Terrific work on this! Great pattern~
Thanks everyone. I will think of something for sure.
It's beautiful, I love it :)
I see why she still likes it! Great quilt.

Buddy'smom, As a single mother I can appreciate your struggle to find funds to finance a hobby, but I found Op Shops a good place for almost new sheets for backings and lightweight bed spreads for batting (just cut off the valance and save for other small projects). Thankfully last year I reached the stage of being mortgage and debt free so can afford some new fabrics and I'm older than your husband. I wish him well back at work and more fun in your spare time; your quilt is beautiful and deserves to be finished - wish you were closer to Western Australia so that I could help you with it.
