K-that is a great quilt. Love the scrappy look and all the different colors. You hand quilted? Impressive...can you post a close-up of the quilting? Did you do it in the ditch or an all over pattern?

Okay, just went back and saw the quilting work - it's stunning. what perfect little stitches K. :)

Ducky 09-17-2009 06:08 AM

KWhite, the quilt is beautiful! Your hand quilting looks so perfect and precise. I'm very impressed. Can I ask how long it took for the hand quilting?

Shemjo 09-17-2009 06:28 AM

That isone beautiful scrappy 9 patch! Lovely quilting also! I have a Cat that loves me so much, she gives me love nips! She hasn't drawn blood for a while, but she has done in the past! All the cats LOVE fabric of anykind.

K-White, I love your hand quilting!
I am going to attempt hand quilting on my current project
and hope my stitches look like yours.......

(you must reveal your secrets for hand quilting----
and don't say 20 years of practice  ---I can't wait that
long to do a decent job....)

The nine patches are gorgeous!

I love the quilt! You did a great job. Nice with the hand quilting. Do you have a quilting frame? What sort of pattern did you quilt? What is the size of the quilt?

I have a PVC frame that I did the most of it in but at the end the floor frame became too big so I pu the last round in a hoop. I just went from corner to corner on all the blocks except for the last round. I got bored of the X pattern so on the last round I went straight through the center of each block. I am really bad at choosing quilting patterns so this was simple and straight forward. The quilt is 72 inches square.

I didn't work on it full time for the whole time but I think I started to quilt it about three years ago. It took about an hour per block so 144 hours approx. I got really bored by time I got to the last round and switched up the quilting pattern. I have ADD so I get antzy and need a change.

dark blue is the second round lighter blue is the last round.

Like I told you before Gai. The next opening in your home is reserved for this one. Let's see how long the birds last with Evil in the house!!!!

HAH! Obviously you don't know parrots! I'll bet Poppy against any cat! It would be a bloodbath! Not only because of that wicked beak, but because I am the ALL POWERFUL ALPHA BITCH of the house, and demand obedience and harmony. Except I allow Tuffy to beat up Labzilla. It's too funny.

Once, when my (ex)DH (that's damned, not dear) and I had a fight, he yelled "You love that damned cat more than you love me!" Now mind you, were were still newlyweds. I looked him dead in the eye, and very calmly and totally sincerely stated "Darling, when I have had you twelve years we'll discuss it. Not a minute before".

Of course, that wasn't the reason for the divorce. If I remember correctly, that had something to do with multiple black eyes, etc.

oksewglad 09-18-2009 04:15 PM

Love it! Doesn't it make a great color study? Let's you go out of the box and put fabrics together.

kwhite 09-18-2009 06:12 PM

Yep there was little planning on that one. I did move some finished blocks around to get the most random look.

Janstar 09-18-2009 07:14 PM
