I really really like the border, it really looks nice with this quilt, which is beautiful BTW.
I would use a burgandy (?) border, like the one you have in your quilt. |
cool idea and have fun!
Your pieced border is to die for. I would surround it with either that burgendy fabric or a dark brown fabric so the inner border really pops. That is one beautiful quilt
This is soooo STUNNING. The border idea is perfect for it Last one brown
Very nice; the additions to the border outline gives the quilt top a richness that accents the inner blocks.
I like the pieced border you have, but think it would need to have a solid border to finish it off. BTW, it is a beautiful quilt. I love it.
That is a beautiful quilt and your border is awesome. I want to do that on one of mine now. Great job.
Very nice
try getting that gold into the borders. do dark brown (like
you already have) strip of equal or 1/4" smaller of the gold, the pieced border.--then another strip of the gold, then another dark brown. bind in dark brown or gold. a beautiful quilt top ! |

Your quilt is a knockout - jaw dropper. I really like the pieced border. I think it really sets it off. Wonderful design and your work is fabulous.
Fran, I LOVE your border!!! It makes it look so elegant!! Keep up the good work!
YOUR QUILT IS BEAUTIFUL I LOVE THE COLORES I TOO THINK A DARK OUTER BORDER
I can only repeat what everyone else said. Awesome.
That is going to be beautiful!! I would repeat the narrow borders you have before the pieced border...the brown and then the maroon....Can't wait to see it finished!!
Ditter |
I think you should enter it in a contest - It's stunning!

Gorgeous quilt - love the binding
Ya, I get your drift. I suspect you think it is for a guy? Well I love the richness of the colors so I just might have to keep this one.
Okay its official I am in love with your quilt, I want to be "Mr. That Quilt"!!!! I love the colors and especially love the border!!!! I can not wait to see the end product! Billy[/quote] |
WOW!WOW! what else could top that pieced border. I think I would just put a very narrow binding, probably in the light color, so as not to distract from that beautiful border. Lovely lovely quilt too. The border will certainly make that quilt POP!!
I can't remember the name of the BOM--it was from a private group. It was pretty intense. I quilted another one just like this BOM in blues for $$. I can post a pic of that sometime if anyone is interested.

This seens to be the concensus--another solid border to end with and maybe the binding the same too. If I used a light binding not sure I would like that but I will audition it.

I am using the gold for another project so will not be using that in any more of the borders. Unless I change the other project. HA But an idea I might try--thanks.

I did the math and hopefully I can pull it off.

Perhaps another pieced border, just reverse the colors, might be a liffle much but you could have a sold border between the two.
Yes I have to admit the blocks go so well together--one of them had over 90 pieces in it.

This border is called "beads" or something like that. I realized when trimming it that it is or like Seminole border. I have put Seminole borders on towels to fancy them up.

Sure you can copy it. I got it from a book anyway that I purchased and after I was into it realized it was the Seminole border. I wanted to learn how to do the math to make the border come out correctly. I hope I have achieved this--not completed yet.

Love this..lots of details & work on this. Maybe end this with a tiny stips of the lighter brown that you have?
Repeat with the border just to the inside of the pieced border and bind with the same fabric as the 2nd (reddish) border. Beautiful work. Love the pieced border.
