Wow! What a great quilt! Good job!

You did a fantastic job of enlarging the quilt "seamlessly". Nicely done.

Looks good. BrendaK

Great work and very creative

Wow!! Perfect. Sometimes another quilt is OK and sometimes people do not want to have another quilt, they want the one they cherish with memories, just larger. What a great solution!

Fascinating, but I want to ask about the fabric. Did you happen to have a bunch left over from the original quilt?

I was able to get enought border fabric to make the extensions. How lucky was that?

It looks really good.

Clever leaving the binding on but how is it treated on the underside and how's the addition attached?

I think you did a super job of adding on without it looking "added on." I've been thinking about adding on to a couch size quilt for my son. I see that he has it thrown over his queensize bed. There are a lot of pieces left from that quilt so adding on would work. I was thinking that I'd remove the binding and add borders by the QAYG method....applying the batting and backing together as with the 6-hour quilt. But using your idea would save that step of removing the binding (I cringe at the thought of unsewing!). Thanks for sharing!

Great idea!!!! How about a tutorial?

Jackie R........if you go back to page 4, thread 32, there is a picture of the back side. I sandwiched, quilted and bound the piece to be added (bound on 3 sides), then positioned it under the binding on the big quilt and stitched in the ditch of the original binding. It has been quite a while since I did this so some things are a little fuzzy. I think I was able to turn under the raw edge on the back side of the addition and it was stitched at the same time.

That's a beautiful quilt, love your colors.

Thanks for the info - I did not see your response prior to my question. You did a very clever and good job on the extension to your quilt. It's beautiful.
