Lesley and Elle, I've seen Lynnie make blocks like there is no tomorrow! She is a machine and will far outrun us all! She did the Chicken swap, completed a funky cat quilt, is working on a funky dog quilt and I'm hoping playing in the funky cat swap..and now this quilt. I have no idea what else she is working on...but a MACHINE I tell ya'...just a MACHINE!

Perhaps she doesn't sleep - now that is something I do need every so often.

Thanks for the nice comments. I used a finer silver thread than the Razzle Dazzle I think that that is to thick and I don't like to work with it. After I bought it so I found a finer thread used for cross stitch that I like better so I could do the smaller hearts. Thanks again for looking

Ladies thank for all the nice comments but I am just learning to Applique this is my first Applique' project . I am with DH here in Atlanta Staying in a Hotel and spending my whole day just making these blocks, with no interruptions at all. I brought all my supplies with me so I could learn to make these blocks. All the blocks have been fun. With the exception of that ( Block17 :( :( which I am having a meltdown over. But I am not going to give up I am having fun

Elle, love, love your block and colors. Can't wait to see it embroidered.
Now I am regretting starting the lone star and not just jumping in with the AOTH quilt, grrr....the lone star is hard

Butterflyspain 04-17-2011 03:14 PM

Thanks Candi, but Lone Stars are beautiful quilts to make too. Look forward to seeing what you have done.

I can't decide which I like better: the solid colors or the multi. This is the 2nd block I made for this one. The first was needle turn and looked HORRIBLE! I was so upset, that I tried one using raw edge machine stitched. I also changed the design in the middle like Patti. I like it this way--to me it looks less cluttered. Tried the little hearts in the middle twice and picked them out

Elle....very pretty!! It will look fabulous when you do the embroidery!

Rox...yours looks great done like that! I like it just fine without the teeny hearts.

JudyG 04-17-2011 04:52 PM

Looks great, Rox. I didn't do the little hearts either. Didn't think they were worth all the stress and strain.

Butterflyspain 04-17-2011 10:53 PM

I love your block Roxanne, what size are you doing, I am thinking that the 7" ones are a bit on the difficult side the pieces are tiny

Elle, Thanks. Yes I'm doing the 7" and these little pieces are really trying both my patience and my physical abilities. Each block I make, I wish I had upsized!

Isn't it great that we can change things and do what pleases us?
Whether it's by choice or accidental, the changes makes each block unique and I am getting lots of ideas from others here on the board.

Thanks Patti---I got the idea from you! Your block looked so clean and neat, but I had to study it to see what the difference was. I found out for sure when I drew in the center design and didn't like the way it scrunched up on the 7" block.

Butterflyspain 04-18-2011 08:18 AM

It is great when we can exchange ideas and ask for advice. i think this Board is wonderful and its been down for a few hours I couldnīt get on and I just hate when that happens

Roxanne, I love your multicolored flowers! I was afraid to use the prints in my stash, but now I'm having second thoughts - they look great!

4EVERquilt 04-18-2011 09:10 AM

Nice job

Butterflyspain 04-18-2011 09:26 AM

Yes, you have started me off too Roxanne looking through other materials, see what you have started....

Roxanne 04-18-2011 10:08 AM

I was nervous about it too, but according to the book, it is supposed to be done with scraps....so I didn't want to buy anything except the background. So far, I've only used scraps and stash.

Butterflyspain 04-18-2011 10:31 AM

Well done I like the way its turning out. We are going to haave some really different quilts using the same pattern, looking forward to seeing the first 16 laid out.

sandpat 04-18-2011 04:21 PM

I'm using a real mix of scraps of small print cottons and also some batiks. And I ordered a little stack of the Connecting Threads Batiks to try them. I've been really hesitant to order them as I ordered some of their fabric before and didn't really care for it...so we'll see. It should be here any day..along with that pack of "perfect circle" tools!

Block 14 Embroidered

Lacelady 05-01-2011 08:44 AM

Lovely - the embroidery is the finishing touch.

Butterflyspain 05-01-2011 08:46 AM

These blocks really do need embroidery, it just makes them that little bit different

JudyG 05-01-2011 01:26 PM

Another really pretty one, Elle. I agree, the embroidery just finishes these blocks up perfectly. There are some that I think are a little skimpy on the embroidery. May have to take a page from Lesley's book and do some extra stitching.

Did think that too, especially when you get all the blocks together, some look a bit bare.
i think when once they get FMQ or hand quilted they will look different again

d.rickman 05-01-2011 04:03 PM

Ladies - Beautiful work, love your colors!! Great job.

sandpat 05-01-2011 05:10 PM
