ALASKAN wonder

My sweet niece lives in Alaska and is kind of limited on her access to fabric... She assembled this beauty...a nd then shipped it,to me to quilt... I did an overall feathery leaf. I love the variegated thread on the black. It looks beautiful...For some reason it reminds me of the northern lights....

What a prety quilt. I really like the way she did the D9P blocks with the sashings between. Your quilting is beautiful too. I'll bet its fun to have a family member that quilts.
|
Such a bright colorful quilt!
|
Beautiful! I thought of the Northern Lights, too!

You two are a fantastic combo! :)

I don't know why but I can't see the pictures. I have tried everything but nothing works. I'm intriqued and really want to see it.
|
I can see the pics - it is a beauty. Love her batiks. Think I figured out why I couldn't get the pics - my Java was out of date so I had to update.
For someone limited on fabric she did a really great job on that quilt. |
Very beautiful.

It turned out beautifully!
She may have limited access to fabric (maybe due to where she lives) but there are probably more quilt stores per capita in AK than any other state. From what I understand there are 30 quilt shops in AK for about 600,000 people. That makes one per 20,000 people. That's a lot. Plus they have Joann's, Walmart, and thrift shops. I know that Value Village had some fabric when I was up there. I'd probably just shop on line, however, if I lived in the boonies up there. The USPS delivers. (We own 40 acres near Talkeetna--recently inherited from DH's dad.) |
Love the vibrant colors. And I'm envious of your beautiful feathers!
|
Really pretty, yep Northern Lights. She did a great job and your feathers are perfect.

Nice quilt and quilting.

Beautiful quilt. I live in Alaska and there are plenty of quilt shops unless you live in a smaller village and there are JoAnn's and Walmart that carry fabric. I think your niece did a great job and love all those colors.
