Pat, remeasure your strips. Each one is 3/4" shorter than the one next to it. I have been known to skip one and have to go back and cut another. I lay mine beside each other across the back of the couch as I go so I can see the diminishing lengths. Then I only take off 4 or 5 at a time to sew them together - chainstitching so both halves are done at once.

These are beautiful. They look so hard to make. Is there a pattern?

I continued to cut out my pcs. & am ready to start to sew them but I am stuck again & would like to ask for your help again. Do you mind if I PM you with my question?

I finally figured out why I'm having so much trouble with this now. I just learned this wk. that I've had a sm. stroke. I knew something was wrong but being a nurse, it was hard to accept what I suspected was wrong. Finally took myself to ER & had it confirmed. My thinking is a bit scrambled so this pattern confused me. My symptoms are subsiding but I'm determined to tackle this pattern.

Pat

Irishrose, this is what I did but I ended up short one set because my strata turned out not to be wide enough for the last one. I made sure it was 22" wide but could not get that last one on. I made a whole new strip set to make sure I had them all.
I just don't know where I messed up. Now I can't figure out the instr. for beginning to sew them together. It says to put the 2 smallest pcs. of one color way right sides together aligning the narrow edges (points) (sew the right hand edge" on Pg 6. That isn't making any sense to me since once I stitch down the R the sm. top pc. hangs off the R side of the other pc. What am I misreading here? Then when I do the same to the next 2 pcs. I can't see how they're going to be added. I sure hope somebody can get me on the right track.

Hi Pat, sorry I've been away all day, feel free to send me a PM. Not sure if I posted these other pics before but they were all I took as I went along. Maybe something here might help.

Pat, thimblebug's second picture should help you. The outside edge does drop 3/4" with each addition. You trim it to a curve after the whole runner is together. I sew with the smaller piece on top. Just be very sure you do the same for each end. If you use the smaller piece on top on the first color, the small piece must be on top for the other color.
