Thanks Patti, these stitches could be improved up on. However I suppose practice makes perfect. What lovely comments though

Hey Patti....you know I'm bringing an empty suitcase when I go to visit her. Plus, I'm going to pop in on Izy too. Izy has such a beautiful quilt that is just laying on a bed doing nothing. :) :) :)

Your quilt is beautiful. The watercolor center is spectacular and the swag border is outstanding. If you wanted it to be less puffy you could add some additional quilting. For someone who doesn't usually hand quilt you did a great job. Alyssa is a lucky girl.

Thank you for all your kind words, decided enough was enough with the quilting, it was starting to wrinkle so had to give it up.

Your quilting looks good to me. I don't know if this happened to you but when I first started you could tell a definite difference from the blocks I started with and the ones I finished with. There is a learning curve involved with everything and quilting is no different. Very pretty quilt

You are absolutely right on that one Judi. Especially at the back, I learned to travel my thread through the batting so that I didnīt need to keep starting and stopping to finish off the thread.

Thanks

Elle - that is absolutely stunning! I'm so pleased you've got the hand quilting bug and for a first attempt that is fabulous - heck, for ANY attempt!!! Especially since the wadding is so lofty - you didn't make it easy on yourself, but the effect is lovely; I've always used dream poly for wall hangings and small projects and Hobbs 80/20 for beds but have just started a bed quilt with Hobbs Wool - it's so lofty I was afraid at first but it's a dream to quilt and the effect is stunning! I might even try a wholecloth with it - one day! Now when I first started hand quilting, I NEVER thought I'd want to do a wholecloth!

WOW  Elle thats beautiful! I love the puffiness, it reminds me of an eiderdown my Nan had on her bed, so cozy and comforting to snuggle up to.

You should be very proud of yourself for making something so beautiful!

Thanks, I was wondering what batting you all use, I am not going to be using that one again, it was difficult to work on, although it is a nice affect.
Will have a look for those ones, where do you buy? in France???

No, it's very expensive here and in Holland. I order from Cotton Patch in the UK - even with postage it works out cheaper! The wool was 62 euro for queensize and Cotton Patch was 33 pounds - one advantage of the exchange rate! I'm going to the UK for a week and want to go to their shop to look at (buy!!!) the Grace Hoop quilting frame so will probably stock up on a few packs while there! Or, they do free postage to the UK so if anyone is coming over by car, I can have it delivered to them and they bring it.

K x

Here's a link in case you don't know them http://www.cottonpatch.co.uk/ I find them very reliable and they get in touch first to let me know shipping costs.

Yep I know them, they are very good. I will check that out, because the Club has got a new batting and I donīt think I like it, it seems very thin.

Totally gorgeous!

RedGarnet222 04-17-2009 09:11 AM

Oh how pretty it turned out! I loke the way you used a pink thread to quilt it. Very girly design. Great job on your first quilting by hand.

Patti, got the part, but it needs tweaking, will be setting it back today to manufacturers settings as I think thats what it needs now.

Need the stabalizer that goes on the back of fabric for embroidery and I will be away with the fairies soon LOL

Well, at least you are partway there. Hopefully all will be well with it soon, I know its frustrating not to be able to just pop in there and get it done!
