This quilt is made entirely from my scrap box....and I still can't get the lid on it. The pattern is from the April 2019 issue of the American Patchwork and quilting magazine. It is not a difficult pattern but it takes lots of time to make. I could not strip piece it due to using scraps so I did the math and cut the 2972 pieces I needed to make it. I even used those left over pieces of binding on the outside edge. I used everything and anything in the blocks and somehow, it all went together. I debated on adding the teal blocks but I am glad I did. They gave that little bit of spark tot he quilt.

This quilt pattern was a 'Quilt Along' by American Patchwork & Quilting magazine in 2018,
Here is the first link https://www.allpeoplequilt.com/quilt...ng-week-1-tips Their tips would probably be helpful in putting it together :) |
I would have the scraps to do that. I especially love the border. That may go on my current quilt made of 8 1/2 in squares. I start with two of the tiniest pieces and sew them together. Find or make a straight side and add something just a little larger. If I get stuck, I create a long strip of lots of little pieces. I lay pieces that are the same width in a pile and sew them all together to make a strip. Yes, that is time consuming, but I have fun doing it.
A lot of the small stuff I use actually comes from the waste basket when we have sew-ins. Other people throw it out; I rescue it. Now a lot of people just give their scraps to me. |
Love this quilt! My bucket is running over, but guess I'll still have to add this one to the list.....
