Allyce's Fabric Finds a home after 27 years!

My DML passed away in 1987...she had a huge stash of fabric and two very odd pieces...her sister got all the stash...I got the two odd pieces...this one was her...bold and bright and colorful...I've saved it all these years waiting for the right thing to come along and for me this is it... It was fun to fmq around the design and I thought of her with each stitch. She was only 63...too young.

The fabric is fabulous, so much 'movement and wonderful color!!
Seems it had to wait until this new "incarnation" of orange to find its perfect use!:)

Love that fabric and the bag you made, what a great piece to have in memory of your mom.

cathyvv 07-14-2014 05:20 AM

Great bag! Your MIL and I would have gotten along very well, if one can judge that from a fabric choice!

QUILTNMO 07-14-2014 05:35 AM

Very pretty!!!

lizzyq 07-14-2014 05:35 AM

Perfect combination of fabric and pattern! Thanks for the tutorial.

PenniF 07-14-2014 05:50 AM

So pretty...and the way you quilted it looks great.

BuzzinBumble 07-14-2014 06:27 AM

The round shape of the purse is perfect for the fabric, with its swirling movement. It turned out great!

dunster 07-14-2014 06:48 AM

Beautiful purse, and what a wonderful way to remember your DMIL. I wonder what you're going to do with the other odd piece?

Lady Jane 07-14-2014 07:25 AM

That pattern fits the material.

Tweety2911 07-14-2014 07:38 AM

Beautiful fabric and the bag shows it to it's full deliciousness! Great job on it!

mrs. fitz 07-14-2014 07:47 AM

Wonderful use of her fabric and she'd be so happy that she's still in your memory and now a concrete part of your life.

QuiltnNan 07-14-2014 08:47 AM

nicely done

QuiltnNan 07-14-2014 08:52 AM

very pretty purse

indigofab 07-14-2014 09:42 AM

Lovely purse. That fabric is pretty vibrant for that era. I wouldn't be surprised to see that in a shop today. It's almost Kaffe-like. You DMIL had good taste.

IshtarsMom 07-14-2014 12:08 PM

With QuiltnNan's help I was able to post the pattern for this in the tutorial section. I wanted to be able to give back for all the help, knowledge shared, and comradery everyone has given me. Happy Quilting!

You did the right project with it; looks great.

coopah 07-14-2014 06:51 PM

That bag is a stunner...I mean that in a very good, positive way! I'd love to have it, and I'm not an orange fan. You waited for the right project, and WOW! You really chose well. Your MIL would be delighted at the beauty of your work with her fabric. Just perfect!

joyful1 07-14-2014 07:15 PM

Very nice.

A perfect match between fabric and project. Well done.

juneayerza 07-14-2014 11:27 PM

Fabric like this would not have been something I would have even taken a second look at. Looking at it in the design you made for it shows how wrong our judgement can be. It is absolutely beautiful! I bet your MIL's sister is green with envy.

QM 07-15-2014 12:51 AM

What an excellent way to bring a good person to memory on a regular basis. The fabric was perfect for this pattern.
