These will make a wonderful quilt Henry, and the quilt will give you lots of hugs, whenever you might need them :-)

Pam Pollock 05-23-2008 08:34 PM

Those blocks are just so special. I can't wait to see your quilt. They are really going to miss you Henry!! You have given them some good memories to store of their childhood.

henryparrish76 05-23-2008 11:38 PM

Thanks Sue and Pam

Izy 05-24-2008 12:04 AM

Henry this is so sweet, wipe your eyes and remember all the good things you have achieved with these kids....the message is loud and clear - They love you!!

Be proud of yourself....you can take advantage of this move to go forward now and touch many more hearts on your new journey.

Your quilt is gonna be a beautiful keepsake, which you will treasure for the rest of your life :D :D

Barb M 05-24-2008 12:18 AM

Awe, one your kids phoned already??? That is so sweet, yes, good you told them to tell their parents...awe, you are so loved henry, i can hardly wait to see the beautiful quilt from your kids..... :)

blahel 05-24-2008 04:30 AM

all those wonderful messages the kids wrote must make teaching so rewarding and you can look back at the quilt with very fond memories. Now you can go and make more memories at your new school...

henryparrish76 05-24-2008 12:24 PM

Thanks Izy. I will post a picture of the quilt when I am done under this thread. :)

Yes that is what makes teaching rewarding. Knowing that you are touching their lives

quiltwoman 05-24-2008 12:27 PM

Good for you Henry. It sounds like you have found your calling and are meant to be with these kids for life.

Hope your next job finds you with as much excitement and love as this one did.

Julie

henryparrish76 05-24-2008 12:30 PM

Thanks Julie. I plan on completing my degree in K-6 education so i can return and teach 5th grade sometime in the next 3-5 years.

c2cd2008 05-24-2008 01:43 PM

I can not wait to see the final results. This is just the sweetest thing ever. Are you going to finish and put it on a wall perhaps in your home or your office? I know I would proudly display this for the rest of my life. Henry, you are a true inpeiration to us all. (ps, my SS too)

henryparrish76 05-24-2008 06:00 PM

I plan on hanging this in my quilting room upon the wall that faces the sewing machine. :)

Harmony 05-24-2008 06:15 PM

Good plan, Henry! A degree will provide you with far more job security than you would have as an aid. Get that credential and then go for tenure, then NOBODY can take your job!

henryparrish76 05-24-2008 06:46 PM

Well it takes 5 years to be tenured. So I would be starting all over again. But thats okay.

Knot Sew 05-25-2008 05:55 AM

Glad to hear you are continuing your education. I would be sad to hear you had gone in a different direction. You seem to have something special to give to these kids :D

Do you know how much i am crying right now??? I am crying tons and tons, and i dont want to stop, because this is the best kind of crying! God i can't believe it henry, the kids, their love for you, and your love for them, it is incredible and wonderful, and will last til the end of time. God i'm crying...not sad but good, god is good, these kids are so good and sweet, more precious than gold is the love they have for you, and the love you have for them, and it shows, brilliantly. And for now, we only see in part, but someday, we shall see in full, and see our Lord face to face

tlrnhi 05-26-2008 01:11 AM

Wow, Henry...that looks so good!
You are so blessed to have had kids like that!

Joan 05-26-2008 05:49 AM

Henry, the quilt is beautiful---you can just "see" the love in each of the blocks. It is my feeling that great teachers are born not educated and it sounds like you've got this whole teaching thing figured out all ready. I do hope you'll perservere (sp?) and get your credential. The field needs people like you who truly love the kids and recognize each one of them as individuals (as opposed to worrying about standards and testing---ugh!). Look into the possiblity of grants, some districts are really in need of quality people and willing to offset the cost of school.

Cathy M 05-26-2008 07:07 AM

Outstanding job Henry! In looking at that photo of you and the quilt... I was thinking... he is truly a blessed man to have such love showered on him.... but then.... it came to me... those kids are the lucky ones to have had you in their lives. You changed some little ones in a profound way that will only benefit them and the world in the future. So well done sir :):)

sewmuch 05-26-2008 08:57 AM

Henry, that quilt is going to be awesome. It shows how much the kids thought of you in their remarks. I loved the one from the little girl who said you were like her 2nd Dad. Thats pretty special.

amma 05-26-2008 10:30 AM

The look on your face as you are holding up your quilt is priceless :D :D :D You must be stitiching individual memories of each child with every stitch you make.... You are holding a whole bunch of love in your hands right now :D :D :D

Izy 05-26-2008 10:46 AM

Wow Henry you are making a fantastic job of it....I am sure every stitch will be holding a long lasting memory of all the lovely times spent working with these kids binding them together forever for you :D :D :D

I hope you return to the school to show all the kids what you have made out of their art work!! :D :D :D

henryparrish76 05-26-2008 12:51 PM

Thanks Terri :)

Barb M 05-26-2008 01:40 PM

:) :) ;) Hey Henry, did you see Cathy called you SIR???? That is so cool, cus it's true...the movie, TO SIR WITH LOVE! The very best movie in the whole world! Did you ever see it, about a teacher and his kids? :)

henryparrish76 05-26-2008 02:30 PM

I like that movie Barb

Belinda 05-26-2008 05:26 PM

You really left a lasting impression on these children, Henry. You should feel so good about that. I remember teachers that I felt the same way about when I was in school, so long ago I won't even go there, and to this day I still remember their names. You have probably touched some young lives in ways that you will never even know about. God Bless You.   Your quilt is wonderful and will be a reminder for the rest of your life.

henryparrish76 05-26-2008 06:40 PM

Thanks Belinda :)

amma 05-26-2008 06:43 PM

Henry, maybe you could take a picture of you and your quilt and frame it and they could hang it up in your classroom? I think your students would really like that :D 8) :D

henryparrish76 05-26-2008 10:32 PM

Thats a good idea amma!!!!:)

lfw045 05-27-2008 03:02 AM

That is an awesome quilt, Henry and a lovely reminder of your time with those children!
