this is another one of my own quilts~ done with Lennie Honcoop's Hot Ribbon Applique. http://www.dutchquilter.com/

I have yet to put the binding on, need to decide what color, black?

I enjoyed this quilt.... I love the process.

cherylynne 01-04-2011 06:57 AM

Yes, black seems best to me. Beautiful work!!

KathyAire 01-04-2011 06:58 AM

That is very nice. You did a great job. Not only is the hot applique unique, the quilting is wonderful.
Black sashing, is my vote.

DebraK 01-04-2011 06:58 AM

very elegant. I think I would stay with the black as well.

lovingmama 01-04-2011 06:59 AM

tucsonquilter 01-04-2011 06:59 AM

Beautiful!

quiltlonger 01-04-2011 07:26 AM

Rebel here I say red binding. Beautiful work

scowlkat 01-04-2011 07:36 AM

Gorgeous. Unless you want to use a wood type fabric to make a faux frame with mitered corners, I would stay with black. That is so beautiful!

pab 01-04-2011 08:03 AM

No, I have done a handful, the other one you can find on the site is

Love this because I am not a person who applique's, because I find it difficult. But this form I can cover all the edges with a design element. The shading has not been done on this quilt, I plan on doing some shading in the flower.

I have met Lennie, went to her Tahoe retreat (she may have openings check out her website, it is in April) (wonderful setting, I had never been to CA before) I was able to spend time with Gary and Lennie and they are both wonderful people. Lovely is all I can say! I hope to get a collection of these quilts that I can change around as I desire.

Very beautiful!! Reminds me of the ones my grandfather insisited on getting every Christmas! The Christmas he died his did not grow but the next year was the most amazing one I had ever seen I think I had over 10 blooms I had never had that many one!!

Kitsapquilter 01-04-2011 02:02 PM

Beautiful!! I definitely would go with black binding. You don't want any other color (red or green) to take away from the center!!!

QuiltingHiker 01-04-2011 02:07 PM

This is so beautiful. I would love to try this sometime.

ann clare 01-04-2011 02:34 PM

Gorgeous! I would go with the red!

psquared52 01-05-2011 06:41 AM

I'll be different and suggest a small stripe, maybe on the bias. Maybe find something with a bit of gold in it, with either red/black or white.

I was going to say black until I read Scowlkat's thought of using a wood type fabric to frame it and now I like that idea better!

Tina BH 01-05-2011 08:07 AM

I say go with black

chrissy 01-05-2011 11:42 AM

SharonC 01-05-2011 11:46 AM

This is stunning...I absolutely love the quilting and the applique. What wonderful work.

angelwatcher 01-05-2011 12:40 PM

Absolutely beautiful!!

I went to the link http://www.dutchquilter.com/ and clicked on the very bottom of her page to the "Lennie's 1/2 hour Show" on the Kaye Wood Tv program and watched her tute on how to do this fabulous technique. It looks fairly easy except for the marker shading part. How Great that you got to meet her in person!!

I also vote for the wood grain picture frame for the binding, as this looks like a masterpiece painting!!.

IBQUILTIN 01-05-2011 12:42 PM

I would bind with that seafoamy color myself, but everyone else seems to be leaning toward the black.

peabee 01-05-2011 12:52 PM
