Americana BOM Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
This was from my LQS BOM program last year. I have never made so many flying geese! I must admit, they were my nemesis, so this was a good quilt to improve my technique on. I am happy with the way it turned out. I really love the movement created by the flying geese in the alternate block. I gifted this to my sons good friend who's birthday is on the 4th of July. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful!! I have a red, white and blue quilt on my "to do" list.
Great quilt!
That is the first thing I noticed. Too many flying geese for my skill level. (why are they so hard for me?????) This is a real july 4th treasure to watch the fireworks from.
It is lovely! flying geese are not my favorite block either, but you have encouraged me with this quilt.
Sew much fun with those geese. They really make the design move around the quilt. Love the fabric choices too.

Super. BrendaK

Love your patriotic quilt! Perfect for a 4th of July celebration!
Awesome awesome awesome!!! Absolutely love this!!
That is a beautiful, wonderful quilt!! If I had it I would hang it up on the wall so I could look at it all the time.
I really like your red, white and blue quilt. Great block of the month project.
a gorgeous quilt!!!
It is gorgeous, love the colors.
Awesome! Love the red, white and blue!
Love, love your quilt and beautiful job on the flying geese; just made it.
I like it a lot!
The sampler blocks really coordinate in this quilt - |
It turned out great. I really like how the alternate blocks give the illusion of the star blocks being set on point.
For anyone having trouble with FG units, I highly recommend Deb Tucker's wing clipper ruler. It makes a huge difference. And using the ruler and her method of making the FG is a no waste method. You can make units as small as 1/2" x 1 with it and as large as 5 x 10 (finished size). Not affiliated just an extremely satisfied customer and this is coming from someone who has made a massive amount of FG units prior to getting the ruler. |
Striking quilt with wonderful blocks and fabrics!
How pretty! The stars are so prominent with the other settings.
Beautiful quilt! Love red, white and blue quilts and yours is exceptionally beautiful. I have a RWB quilt I am getting the backing ready now to take to the LA quilter. I think your FG are great. I use Eleanor Burns templates to make FG and I can make quite a few sizes and think this helps me get them done quicker and more easily.

Interesting.....when I look at this quilt, I see star blocks on point with flying geese sashing and a cornerstone! :) Can you share the name of your pattern, please? I just love it! |
Wonderful red, white and blue.
Very nice!
Very pretty! I don't mind making flying geese if I can cut the shapes out with my die cutter.
So beautiful.
Is the pattern available?
That's a beauty! Well done.
I can see why you are so pleased...it’s a fabulous quilt. I love the pattern and the selection of fabrics. It’s not too over the top 4th of July, it is a great summer quilt.
I also love the movement created by the geese. What a wonderful quilt. Is there a pattern for this or something off the top of your head?
Really nice quilt.
Awesome red, white and blue!
I also LOVE the movement of the flying geese, especially around the border! I've been collecting red, white and blue and cream fabrics for a couple of years....I need to get busy making some Americana quilts! Thanks for sharing yours, it gave me some great ideas.
This is one of my favorite red, white, and blue quilts. Thanks for sharing.
very nice.
Wonderful quilt, in spite of your aversion to 'flying geese'.
I'm especially intrigued with the FG border breaking in the centers with a square. Too often the flying geese circling the quilt aren't as pleasing an effect.
Fantastic quilt.
You did a beautiful job. It came out just great. Thanks for showing us.
I would have a difficult time letting this beauty go. Well done you!!!
