Thank you very much.

The Moda white JRs come in three tones, Milk, Sugar, and Wheat.

Love the quilt! Can you tell me what the difference between a jelly roll and a honey bun is? How much do they usually run? I have never bought a bundle of fabric before.

Thanks
Anna

A jelly roll is 2 1/2" wide strips by the width of the fabric (WOF). A honey bun is 1 1/2" wide by WOF.

A honey bun costs $23 and jelly rolls are $35 at Fat Quarter Shop. You can get them for less like on eBay ranging from $25 to $30 or so for a jellly roll on But It Now. Can bid on them for less. I saw honey buns from $12 to $22.

I look at a bunch of places online all the time and sometimes you can find really good deals. Fat Quarter Shop has good sales sometimes like a Harmony JR for $21, a Sultry HB for $16, etc.

Beautiful work as always Pam. Love them both.

I think it's gorgeous! I love jelly rolls--they take half the work out of making a quilt, and there's so many things you can do with them!

Thanks, Pam. I knew about the Jelly Rolls. But I wasn't aware of the Honey Buns. Sounds like I'll need to buy a couple of HBs for a future Log Cabin quilt. That'll make it soooooo much easier. No cutting, just sew it together.

You're welcome. It is perfect for a log cabin but I have also made one with a jelly roll. It IS so much quicker!! Especially using this method, no cutting at all other than cutting each block off the strip.

That is a beautiful use of color and pattern.

Your quilt is so pretty- as is your room! Is your whole house decorated that nice? I love it!

Also, I have seen jelly rolls and the like for pretty cheap on Etsy. I paid $15 for a Moda one once.

Thank you. :-)

Several of the rooms in the house are done but not all. I did that room after my daughter moved out. I got the paint for the living room, hallway and stairway but when I put it on the wall it was very yellow. It was supposed to be beige. Decided to use it in that room and what goes with yellow? Black and White. I did the panel moulding myself on all the walls and over a month or two kept my eye out for black and white accessories. Got the chair for $50 and painted it white and re-covered the seat. I made the headboard from scraps of wood and some plywood. Got the tables for $30, the lamps were $10, the artwork is posters and I had gold frames that I painted matte black. The drapes were $18 at Walmart.

This is the family room and living room. The only other room done upstairs really is my bedroom and it's just a restful beige and white with touches of blue and brown.

Oh Pam, love the quilt, love the pillow and I really like the pics of your lovely home....could you please send your housekeeper this direction? Do you actually live there? Where are the dirty socks???

pittsburgpam 06-18-2009 06:25 PM

Since I live alone and hardly make a mess, almost never cook, I don't need a housekeeper since my daughter and grandchildren moved out. The dirty socks are all hidden away in rolling hampers in the closet (or on the laundry room floor).

My office is a mess and the sewing room gets to be a mess while working on something. I usually straighten it up before starting a new project.

Beautiful job Pam!! Love the colors and your designer pillow is so 'cool'!

kkbrand 05-28-2010 09:24 AM

How many Jelly Rolls did you use to make it? I love the colors.

pittsburgpam 05-28-2010 10:16 AM

This took one jelly roll of Nature's Chorus and 1/2 of a jelly roll of Moda Sugar. I had used the other half in another quilt.
