Here's the center of mine.. I'm thinking a narrow black border, then maybe green and the outside border the original fabric. What do you think?
|
Gorgeous! I think I'd consider a cream(?) colored narrow border to match the light color in the middle and bring out the dark blocks on the edge, and then bring in the other colors.

Try putting the uncut fabrics (the dark you want, and the cream that Ugly Cook suggested) just under the edge of your quilt to a width you're thinking of using and see how it looks to you. I think I agree with her that cream might be the one to make the dark colors stand out.

A small cream border to "contain" then a 4" border of original print with a 1/4 inch flange of the green before the binding. It would look great, lay it out and audition. You can probably come up with something better.

Beautiful! I agree with the cream idea.

I love how this one is turning out.

I've made 2 one block wonders.....yours is spectacular!!!!
|
Beautiful!

That turned out just wonderful. I love it. Sorry, no suggestions for the border - I like what you suggested.

I think the idea of cream would indeed highlight those darker edges. Beautiful work...love the colours.

Wow, it turned out great. Your plans to finish it off sound perfect. Enjoy.

It's just gorgeous!! :D I also think cream might be the way to go. Try laying different color choices next to the edge & see if you can get a feel for just the right one!!
:D :D :D :D |
I'll post a picture of the original fabric when I get back to my computer
|
That turned out so nice! I would vote for cream too, cant wait to see it finished!
|
I love your OBW. What a beauty. The black border would frame it nicely.

Gorgeous. Lots of work there & time. Play with the colors, walk away several times & do something else, come back. Each time you may get a different idea. I'd vote for tone-on-tone cream or very light mauve, then a darker green or the original fabric for binding. It will be beautiful either way.

How beautiful!

wow, wow

Wow, be sure to show us what you decide.

WOW!!! I love it!!! :D:D:D

very nice quilt ...

Stunning placement for your obw!!! Love it. Another idea may be to start with the green color. Any color to "frame" the inside. Green wouldn't be as visible as the cream (although I like that idea). Like nlgh said.... try laying the fabric under the edge and see what you like best. No matter what you choose.... it would be impossible to hurt this quilt. It is beautiful!

Beautifully done.
|
beautiful quilt. I've made a few of these, and am always amazed at how they come out. this is an exceptional example of the obw. stunning!!!
|
awesome quilt

I agree with Julie and Pam, but I'm probably in the minority, because I don't think the original fabric should be used in the outer border. I think it detracts from the center. With the one block wonder design, with every block touching others, it seems to me to be too busy to use that fabric. I made a 4-patch kaleidoscope and used the original fabric for the border, but those blocks were framed or in the centers of stars. In any event, it will be beautiful!
