Another UFO that is a wedding gift is done and ready to go out the door. Last weekend I had sewed on the label just to realize that it had the wrong date on it!!! I sure am glad that I caught it before it went out, that would have been embarrassing, especially since DH did their pre-marital counseling! I made most of the quilt in March before my shoulder surgery.

Gayle, I love blue and yellow quilts and this one is fabulous! What a wonderful wedding gift you have made for them.

Jim's Gem 10-05-2008 06:32 PM

Thank you for all your wonderful reply's. You all are so encouraging. I enjoyed making this one because it is bright and cheery the next one I finish I don't like the colors as well, but it is what his mom said they like. Amazing how much more fun it is to make a quilt in colors you like than in something that doesn't strike you!!!

Is it my imagination, or is there printing along the outside dark blue border? If it is, that must have been alot of work! :-o

The name of this pattern is call "Bits and Pieces". It is a fat quarter pattern. I use 12 fqs and a 2 and then 4 1/2 inch boarders and it makes up to be about 53x72. The blocks are 9 1/2 unfinished and 12 fats will make 36 blocks. I set them 5 x 7 and use the leftover block for my label. I love this pattern, I can cut the fabrics and sew the blocks in an evening. I am not very good at the quilting part so with this size block and the randomness of it I can just sew a diagonal seam through the blocks with a fancy stitch. The company that puts out the pattern is Mountainpeek Creations they have a toll free # 1-888-768-5922. I have probably made about 20 of these so far, not all the same size. I had previously made about 20 or so yellow brick roads and got tired of them. I love to use lots of fabrics in quilts so fq patterns are fun for me. It is an easy pattern to use.

It is a very easy pattern, uses fat quarters. Yes there is lettering on the edge, my machine has a couple of alphabets and I stitched their names all around the quilt with a heart in the middle. It takes a little while to stitch the names, but after seeing how excited a couple of the previous recepients got about having their names in it I take the time to put it in

Thank you for your encouraging words!!!

Evelynquilts 10-06-2008 04:18 PM
