Another Quick Christmas Quilt Top

This is one I made in Christmas Blues, mostly snowflakes, made it a little bit bigger. I would love to put large snowflakes on it but can't find a pattern for them. Any ideals???

Really cute, great job and thank you for sharing.
Have a Blessed day

Look up coloring pages of snowflakes. Copy the picture and make a clear plastic template. Then applique some snowflakes on to your quilt. Your quilt is very pretty by the way.

This looks like it is very quick and easy. Your fabric choices are great.

PenniF 08-22-2012 11:04 AM

Love your fabric choices...if that doesn't say winter - nothing does !! Good luck with your applique snowflakes !

buddy'smom 08-22-2012 11:19 AM

Thanks so much.

I did two wall hangings for Christmas and they had good size snow flakes appliqued. Cannot remember the gals name for the pattern. She has a set out with wall/door hangings for all the holidays and she is very well known. Try google for snow flake applique. These were really pretty, but simple. Five narrow rectangles with snowflake shape on each end for each big snowflake. They would be perfect for your pretty quilt. OH I will see if I have a picture to attach.

nannyrick 08-22-2012 12:16 PM

the snowman is so cute... I also like the blues

charismah 08-22-2012 02:43 PM

I would just google designs to get an outline and use wool or batting scraps..make them more 3-d and fluffy like snowflakes.

Suze9395 08-22-2012 03:04 PM

I made my patterns by folding and cutting paper shapes.

ging10ging 08-22-2012 03:07 PM

Very pretty I love the snowflakes on the blue fabric it's so peaceful and calm. Sue

buddy'smom 08-22-2012 03:08 PM

Thanks for all the great ideals.

nunnyJo 08-22-2012 04:01 PM

no ideas but love the quilt

QuiltnLady1 08-22-2012 07:02 PM

I would go with getting coloring pages -- here are some sample pages:

http://www.coloring.ws/winter3.htm
http://www.edupics.com/coloring-page...ke-i10356.html
http://www.grandparents.com/gp/conte...snowflake.html

I used to cut them out myself by folding a piece of paper in half and then in half again and cut, then using the paper as a templat. Because of the way snowflakes are cut they are often appliqued the same way that the Hawiian applique is done.

I love this quilt! I remember seeing some others you'd done out of this same pattern & I love all of them! This one is so icy & just shouts WINTER! It's fabulous!

blondeslave 08-23-2012 06:33 AM

Love the pattern-did you make it up?

katkat1946 08-23-2012 07:02 AM

So simple and soooo pretty. Appliqueing snowflakes on it sounds PERFECT!

Babs194068 08-23-2012 07:14 AM

terriffic job on them.

snownannie 08-23-2012 09:14 AM

Make your own pattern for the snowflakes. Quilt is really pretty and the snowflakes would add to it.

Jingle 08-23-2012 12:52 PM

Beautiful love the fabrics and pattern.

Grandma Peg 08-23-2012 12:57 PM

Very pretty snowflake quilt.

emmy 08-23-2012 04:49 PM

Love your blue and white quilt; great pattern and so versatile.

SueDor 08-24-2012 03:27 AM

Your quilt is cute and I think appliqueing larger snowflakes is a good idea, but not to many!

orangeroom 08-24-2012 03:31 AM

Nice! You can always add a darker border that you can quilt snowflakes on it in white.

sassy lady 08-24-2012 04:01 AM

I love it what is the pattern where can I find it thank you so much

Shoofly1 08-24-2012 07:39 AM

I made a table runner with applique snowflakes on the top. Check out the last pattern shown on this page: http://www.etsy.com/shop/theheartandhomeco There are three different size snowflakes used.

TacoMama 08-24-2012 07:42 AM

Very pretty and great job. I am not good with a lot of small pieces and your quilt looks like something I would like to do. Thanks for sharing.

buddy'smom 08-24-2012 07:47 AM

Thanks so much.

marymm 08-24-2012 08:13 AM

Scroll down on this site.....http://www.makethemyourself.com/freepatterns.html

another idea would be to find a stash of antique (or even new) white doilies and strew them across it---maybe even add a few sparkles with "jewels"...

buddy'smom 08-24-2012 08:54 AM

Great ideal, maybe after I get it quilted, I may crochet some snowflakes and add them?
