fabricluver, i am so glad to hear that you are looking for this book at your library. were you able to borrow it?
there are so many fabulous books to learn from, and i do have a few. but i choose to think that the library houses the majority of my collection. :P :P :P and they do a wonderful job of taking care of my books :wink: :wink: :wink: what a great resource are our libraries. if i am looking for a book that isn't in our system, my library has a program by which they borrow from another system. i have even borrowed books from out of state. don't be shy to ask what is available thru your library.

joan, thanks for the kind words. yes i did the quilting myself. i am new at free motion. and boy do i need more practice. but i have learned to just let 'er rip and it seems to happen better than if i try to by precise and follow a stencil. i hope i can after more practice and confidence free motion the more delicate and traditional patterns. it is fun though.

Scrap quilts against black can also make the colors really "pop". :)

I know this is an older thread, but I have a quesiton (silly question, maybe).
If you made the rectangle strips cut to 5" x 3 3/8", then added the triangles at the end...how did you actually add the rectangles. By centering them? Same with the white corner triangles...by centering them?

It looks like she uses a foundation paper for the scrappy part, then adds half square triangles.

Glad this was brought to fore again....I love the scrappy look, and I really like the idea of just dipping into the scraps and the whole freedom of the design. Scrappy quilts are totally unique and very special....so thanks for posting, and to everyone who links us with tutorials and gives such handy hints.

tracy, thanks for asking about this little quilt. the link that was given by elizajo is a perfect illustration of this pattern. it is so much fun to make and i do so love the surprise of seeing the finished quilt. scrappies are my favorites and i can't wait to see yours.
