Another scrappy
2 Attachment(s)
I got this controlled scrappy made for the grandson's college graduation in May. I had a hard time liking this quilt, and not sure why. But now with it done, I am happy with it. It is queen/king size and the dark border is actually a dark green, even though it looks brown to me. Had to show what I did for binding, by using some of the leftover jelly roll strips, it really gave some life to the dark border. Thanks for looking and appreciate any and all comments.

I really like this quilt--the stars look so complex yet I'm guessing they really weren't? He's going to love it.

great scrappy!!!

I think the quilt looks perfect for a boy and turned out great. The dark border allows the pretty stars to shine. The scrappy binding looks great, too. Congrats on your grandson's graduation. He will treasure this quilt.
|
I really like your scrappy. You have done a great job choosing scraps that blend pleasantly. Sometimes, scrappies have a few entries that are just plain glaring standouts rather than blending. I also like your border and binding style. I know your grandson will love it.
|
Very nice scrappy quilt. Although the colors may not be your usual style it looks great and your grandson should love it. Well done.

Who knew scrappy could be so beautiful and organized.

Beautiful scrappy!

Great scrap quilt. Very unusual block design. I have recently become obsessed with scrap quilts. I have so many of them on my bucket list now. I too like a scrappy binding and yours does bring a nice hint of color to the edge of the quilt.
|
Yes, you are right, it is a Kim Brackett pattern and it is out of her Scrap Basket Sensations book. I have mislaid my book or borrowed it out, and could not remember the name of the book, and I don't remember the name of the pattern. But when I went to internet with her name, the book came up and I recognized it. Thanks for filling in the blanks. I enlarged the pattern to make a queen/king size and used 2 jelly rolls, so that is why I had extra strips from my jelly roll for the binding.

It looks beautiful! It's a very fun pattern. Using the extra strips is a great idea. As you say, they add life to the border and tie it all together. Your grandson will love it, no doubt.
