I just finished this tote! What a CHALLENGE! It's called "Professional Tote" and to give credit that's required...the pattern is by The Creative Thimble. I wish i could get a good picture of the inside....it has a LARGE pocket in the center (like a file folder). There's a total of 3 zippers, 2 buttonholes and velcro!!! The two end pockets (you see the hanging ribbon?)...is perfect to carry bottles of water. I made it for a lifetime friend that's taking a trip of a lifetime to Norway in a few weeks. It'll be perfect for hauling "stuff" onto the plane! I have to admit - this has been the most challenging thing I've sewn in a long time....and I can't wait to do another one!

That looks like the perfect travel bag. What a nice friend you are.
Love the fabric, love the bag. As my SIL would say "It's STINKIN cute." That means it's as cute as it possibly be. That's starting to be heard sometimes in her neck of the woods (Portland, OR). Where do they come up with some of these? Personally, I think it's neat and groovy.
I LOVE it! I am going to have to order that pattern because I absolutely LOVE that bag. Your fabric choice is perfect! Look out Norway!
Very nice! Love the fabric!!!
gorgeous but too confusing for me to make, zippers & all, i'll have to stick to plainer ones. by the way, redgarnet, what are those things in your curio cabinet in ur avatar? they look cute but can't see them very good.
Well, you certainly did a professional job! It is beautiful, and I love the color!
What a great bag, I am going to have to get my butt going on stuff like this,
Is this as hard as the pattern looks? I have this pattern but haven't made it yet because it looks very confusing to me.
BTW, GREAT job and colors, I know your friend will love it! |
I ordered the pattern. How long will I have to sit by the mailbox? I want it NOW!!!
Sewnsewer2..........How much have you sewn clothing? It CAN be confusing if you don't follow it step by step by step. I did exactly as she stated...each step and checked off the step I just finished. Also - next time (today) I will NOT use fabric that has a one way design!!!! I had to buy extra, because the layout would have had flowers going sideways.
Step 9B says to place dots on the bottom corners......be sure to see that she mentions in the drawing to put those dots on the interfacing side...LOL -- I didn't see that! Step 11B talks about "understitching".....then directs you to her website for instructions.....I STILL didn't understand what she meant! Much simpler to turn the zipper "down inside the tote" and topstitch along the top edge....You end up with the zipper not showing at the top...but being down inside the bag....duh - I hope that makes sense! If you have any problems, e-mail me and I'll do my best to help! Personally, once I figured out what she meant it was a piece of cake! |

I sew purses all the time and the ladies at the quilt shop made this tote so I know what you mean about the zipper. They did theirs that way too. I really need to give it a try I've had the pattern for over a year  |
Oh my that is really pretty and WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE.
looks beautiful and sounds very practical what more could you ask for in a tote??
Wonderful tote and the fabric is awesome. Great job.
