I've been meaning to post this for awhile. My maternal grandmother was a seamstress and quilter. This quilt came to me from her things. It is very thin now, but holding together well. Orange is not my favorite color, but I love to look at the old prints. It is hand quilted.
There is no separate binding -- the backing is just wrapped around to the front and sewed down. An attempt to show her quilting Size is about a double bed comforter |
Beautiful, a real treasure!

A work of art. Thanks for sharing What an heirloom. :-)

Beautiful work of art. Can you imagine hand quilting that? The lines are so straight and even. I can't see that straight! Treasure it forever.

Grandma's quilts are the best:)

Beautiful! Love the pattern, the fabrics, and the amazing quilting. The orange gives it a "Wow" factor! You're so lucky to have this quilt...such a treasure.

I am with you on the orange, but I love the quilt! Your G'ma did a beautiful job on the quilting, and it's a real treasure. I see more love in it than I do orange. :-D

|
What a beautiful Irish chain! The hand quilting is awesome!
|
What a nice family treasure you have. I might make a suggestion that you make a small label for the back if there is not one already there. I have that on my list of things to do for the 2 quilts my grandma made plus the one my mom made. I do not think they even thought to label their work back then. I will just approximate my guess of the dates mines were made.
|
I like orange! Your quilt is beautiful, and the handquilting is exquisite.

I think it's great! What a lucky thing to get :)
