hi Izy,
I'm really confused. I kind of knew that this somehow had to do with D9P, but don't understand how you cut it. Is it cut the regular way a
D9P is cut and then cut again on a diagonal. Or is D9P cut on a diagonal.
Half of new block looks like a 1/2 square triangle and the other half looks like a 9patch that was cut like you cut to make a D9P block and then that was cut on a diagonal. Have I got any of this right. where can I find it

Peel, I am going to do a pictorial tute tomorrow, stage by stage so you can all see how :D

peel 02-03-2009 02:08 PM

izy,
that would be wonderful, thank you very much. My guess is many people are interested in that.

I hate to show my ignorance but what's a D9P?

pal 02-03-2009 07:21 PM

I think you've got a winner here, Izy. Your quilt is beautiful, as are all of your quilts. Can't wait for the Tute!

Take care of you and yours.....

Donfel.....I am new too and not sure but I think it means a nine patch and the "D" means diagonal...maybe "cut on diagonal" or placement not sure

Margie...up until a few months a go quite a few of us didn't know what D9P was... :D

It's short for Disappearing 9 Patch, which is this pattern :D

This topic is about a variation of this pattern...I am going to do the tute later today :D

k3n 02-04-2009 12:21 AM

Izy 02-04-2009 01:31 AM

Well it is a glorious day right now...so hope the forecast for severe rain tomorrow passes us by, we have had quite enough for one winter this week!! On Sunday night, 110 litres per square metre fell into Lake Vinuela which is right in front of us

Malaga had quite a serious tornado, which caused damage to over 400 vehicles and 200 houses, such alot of clearing upto everywhere.. :(

AND to add salt to the wound we have no water....not sure why, trying to speak to the local town hall....grrrrhhhhh

k3n 02-04-2009 01:36 AM

Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink?

Sorry, just showing off that I DID listen at school sometimes!

Hope the sun keeps shining on you Izy;

Gail I wish I was that good....no, it was four fat quarters that Cathy M sent over with the fuchsia charm squares...I managed to just get the border out of them...if the quilt had been 2" bigger I couldn't have done it...it's pieced up but I think I got away with it  :D

GailG 02-07-2009 03:17 AM

You're right about that -- you DID get away with it. That border looks appliqued. I love your work.

Izy 02-07-2009 05:56 AM
