I ran across the picture on the internet but cannot locate any information about it.

I believe it's a Sawtooth Star. It looks like what I did in a sample quilt when I was just starting quilting.

Not off hand. It's a sawtooth star with a pinwheel in the center instead of a plain square. I've seen it on quilterscache.com before, in just 3 colors (background, then 2 for the pinwheel and star points).
Here's the directions from quilterscache using the 3-colors: http://quilterscache.com/S/SarahsChoiceBlock.html You can draft this to any size that makes it easy to do a 16-patch block. (4", 8", 12", 16", etc.) |
great! thank you so much

It looks like center of a Carpenter Star with the rays made with two shades of the same color rather than matching. I did one with eight different batiks, but my rays match. 9" blocks would make a 36" wall hanging by using just the center of the pattern. http://www.quiltfrog.com/fourhour.html

perfect! thank you so much Donna!
I pulled it into my photo editing software and added lines and this will help me plan the fabrics. The board is so helpful. Kris

Wouldn't this be nicely done as a quick full sized quilt with this as a centre star floating on an appropriate background!
