Well it was getting a little crowded in the studio with all of my machines and then the customers machines and treadles so I built the second section of my wall unit. Now that wall is finished and after I do the addition to the studio and free up more real estate I will build the other sections.

But all of the machines I have in the shelves are mine that I use in the studio and there are even a couple more that I don't have in the picture. Yes I have a bunch that I can use LOL!!

And this doesn't even touch what I have in my collection that I will not use because I don't want to hurt the decals and finish.

WOW! That's one heck of a collection! Beautiful machines, though :). I bought a 1906 White treadle at an auction a few years ago - it technically works, but I got beyond frustrated with the tension settings and then trying to wind the bobbin (it kept reversing and getting tangled up in the gears... grr!). This site might get me motivated to try it again for the first time in 4 years...

OK OK ,, Stop showing off :) A very nice collection for sure and I wish to see alllll the others when you settle them in. :)

I'll take the 301A (?) on the table. I haven't talked my DD into giving mine back to me! Bought it in 1957. She has had it since the mid 80's!

That one is a 1900 Singer model 24 Industrial. It was used in a hat factory in New York.

dsb38327 09-28-2010 02:40 PM

You tickle me. Your work is amazing. Some who haven't followed your posts might think your talents end when you have the machine rebuilt and beautiful. Your quilting tells us you are a well rounded person in the sewing world. I just don't know how you put so much into such a short span of time. It seems you are always churning out a quilt, refurbished/rebuilt machine, motorcycle or car. Thank you for sharing part of your world with us.

sueisallaboutquilts 09-28-2010 03:10 PM

Billy, what a collection! And that's only part of it????
Color me green too. I bet you have a zillion more hahaha :D

WOW!!!

quilt addict 09-28-2010 04:37 PM

Billy, wonderful to see the machines and your display. I know you don't have earthquakes there. I wouldn't want that top one falling off.

If those are the ones that are used, can't imagine the condition of the ones that are too good to use!

I want a studio too!

Mariposa 09-28-2010 04:44 PM

Love your collection!! I have a treadle that is in an old cabinet with drawers that is in storage and I can't wait to get it here.

What is the 2nd one from the top?? It looks very much like the one I just purchased several weeks back??

Was wondering about the white one towards the bottom. How old is that one & what type of machine. It's very pretty.

quiltinghere 09-28-2010 07:00 PM

I love the way you're storing/display them! Very clever.

Much better way than hiding them in the basement!
:)

That is a Singer 500A, to me that was the ultimate Singer machine made. That machine was built in 1962 and I would put it up against any machine out there.

That one is a Japanese Model 15 and it is a "Universal" machine. That is my favorite go to machine, I do all of my FMQ on that machine!!

Hey, Billy. I also have a Singer 500A. Mine's been sitting for a while and needs a good cleaning. We moved last January and I'm FINALLY getting my sewing/quilting area set up. I have an old Singer table that was my aunt's and my "Rocketeer" fits in it perfectly. I really should refinish the table, but probably won't do it now...maybe next summer.

I also have a Featherweight, a Singer Model 66, and a Singer 99. The Featherweight sews beautifully (of course!), but the 66 and 99 need some work. Someone put the 66 and 99 in the upper storage area of the garage when we moved; my hubby is supposed to bring them in the house so I can at least clean and set them up in my sewing room. Hopefully we can get both of them running so I can use them.

I like how you've got yours displayed. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! If your are down sizing, I'll take one. Wow, those are nice. I was looking on Desk Daves site of refurbished sewing machines and love them, just can't afford one. You are so lucky!! I would love to have just one.

Lostn51 09-30-2010 07:00 AM

I can refurbish a FW or a regular machine for a lot less than what he is doing them for. I guess that is why I have so many machines around me that I am redoing right now!

Do you offer tours or an open house :D :D Sounds like a great road trip to me.

That is a really nice machine to get a hold of!!! You own a very desirable machine and I would like to find one one day. And I am not a Featherweight fan at all. (but you didnt hear me say that ;) )

greaterexp 09-30-2010 11:57 AM

Billy, you're dangerous! That vintage machine bug has bitten, and I'm always looking for good vintage/antique machines now, even though I don't really know what I'm doing. Looking at all of yours only makes it worse. There's no cure.

Stitchalong 09-30-2010 01:09 PM

I love your collection, especially the one in the lower left corner.
