This is a wall hanging I appliquéd and thread painted for my bathroom. I changed the colors in there to a red so needed a new wall hanging to replace the turquoise dragonfly wall hanging I had done a few years ago. I really enjoyed working on this. I didn't remember how much fun thread painting can be. Thanks for looking. |
Very pretty. Can you share a little more detail about how you went about making this?

One beautiful job on your thread-painting, and also your overall wall hanging.

I cut out the flowers, appliquéd them to black cotton material, I used warm and natural batting. All the dark centers and lines out to the end of the leaves and petals are thread painted with black thread to make them more vibrant and give them dimension. Don't ask where I got the material I don't know except that I didn't buy it. It wasn't cotton and may have been used for slipcovers or drapery. I had to use fray check on all edges before applique ,which worked well. The material was in my stash and may have been material I got from my mom's stash when she passed. Glad you like it. It is nice when your work is liked by other quilters. I have a quilter buddy Faye who told me I should branch out that I could do more because she said i was artistic. I thank her for encouraging me.
