absolutely beautiful... surely to be an heirloom year after year. You put so much detail into it, right down to the bows on the packages... and the binding... PERFECT. Thank you for posting your pictures.

Now that is an applique job! Absolutely beautiful, you have done a work of art. I, too, love the binding.

Fabulous! Congrats on getting your project Done! If the tree skirt will go around a live tree, You may want to use Scotch guard for fabric to water proof the fabric and protect it from stains. I used it on place mats and it works great. I got mine at Walmart by the sewing supplies. You may want to check certain colors for colorfastness first if you decide to use it. (if fabrics were not pre-washed) You are going to put the Happy in the Thanksgiving with this gift.

jillmc 11-18-2015 09:20 AM

Awwwww....you are all so sweet! Thank you! This project is extra special to me because it may be my last detailed handwork...I have had several surgeries on my corneas in the past year....left eye is fairly good now, but minimal vision in my right eye. Makes beading and hand stitching quite the challenge! :) Luckily, I have a wonderful husband who patiently threaded my needles, etc....

annette1952 11-18-2015 09:24 AM

Yay....this has been in progress for a year. Thanks for the helpful suggestions along the way. No pattern...the images were free internet drawings, with the exception of the gingerbread house-that was a block of the month pattern. I used Fairy Frost with silver for the backing-it has such a pretty subtle sheen to it. I attempted to "birth" the backing, but it was just too thick and did not lay flat, so I unstitched it and pin basted the backing on, SITD'd along the panel seams, and attached the faux-piping binding as usual. Finished diameter is 60". Can't capture the beading and sparkles in pictures, but I am pleased with this project-can't wait yo gift it to my youngest son and his family on Thanksgiving!

Beautiful job, well done indeed.
