I really enjoyed this pattern. Easy and it whipped up quickly. Cutting 576 2" squares wasn't so fun! But it was a great way to use some of my scraps. I may even attempt to quilt it myself!

Funky fabrics!

That came out really nice.. I love it...

bj 11-14-2007 11:52 AM

That is such a cheerful quilt. Just looks like it's lying there waiting for someone to come along and lie down. Or maybe have a picnic. Great job. What kind of quilting do you envision for it?

Shadow Dancer 11-14-2007 11:55 AM

That came out awesome! I love it! :) Good job! :D

kathy 11-14-2007 12:21 PM

Chele, my mother did that quilt this summer but after she got going she didn't remember where she found the pattern so she didn't remember the name of it. I put a pic. of it on the board and when I opened this post I thought it was her quilt! She had the same coment about all those little squares.

Nice quilt.

Karenmay 11-14-2007 12:31 PM

I love it! And what a great way to use up all those odd bits and bobs!

Great scrappy look. I don't know if I'd do all those itsy bitsy squares myself.

Yvonne 11-14-2007 01:56 PM

Beautiful!
I have this pattern marked in my book to do someday also!
I love it even more now that I've seen yours. Way to go! Keep us posted on the quilting process. I'll be curious to see how you choose to quilt it.

ButtercreamCakeArtist 11-14-2007 05:29 PM

And I was going to ask, but hit "enter" accidentally & it posted my comment...anyway, I say go for it! (on the quilting!) Do you think you will hand or machine quilt it? What do you have in mind for the quilting?

estherblair 11-14-2007 08:04 PM

:-) :D gotta love it, i love scrappy quilts so warm and inviting keep it up

Nice job Chele!! I love it, but cutting all those squares! Oy vey!!! LOL
I bet you'll do a great job on the quilting too, no worries!

MAXIES2 11-17-2007 02:28 AM

Thats a lovely quilt and has given me an idea of what to do with all the 4 ins squares I seem to have accumulated. :D

Catherine 11-17-2007 04:42 AM

beautiful...see how bright colors brings a smile to your face.!!!!

Celeste 11-17-2007 12:46 PM

Like everyone else, I love it and the scrappy look! Where ever did you find the patience to cut up that many squares?

Chele 11-17-2007 02:15 PM

Thanks everyone for the comments! I had purchased about 200 of the 2" squares, so I only really cut 376! It seems like nothing now! LOL! I would love to have this quilted in a funky meander or puzzle design, but I'm too new for that. Any suggestions for quilting? Is my meander idea too busy for the business of the quilt? I'm still so green, I don't know what works.

Joan 11-17-2007 08:33 PM

What a pleasing quilt. You just have to keep looking at all the different fabric in the squares. (If you get tired of it, I'll gladly give it a "home".

amma 11-17-2007 08:44 PM

I think I see a big order for strips cut at 2" through DNL fabrics....... ok, I know it is cheating, but oh my, over 500 squares?

moreland 11-18-2007 04:34 AM

The colors are great--I love your quilt top. Just now made copies of your pictures for my "great ideas" wall board. Thanks for sharing.

I Love it! Scrappy quilts are my favorite and yours is just beautiful. Where could I find that pattern?

Chele 12-20-2007 12:40 PM

Deb,

Here's the block pattern: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art23986.asp

Also, if you Google Arkansas Crossroads Quilt, there are several sites to look at.

Thanks for the compliment!

This is a great pattern. I've got it downloaded, printed out, and in my "get-er-done" folder. When I was about 12 or 13, I made a Roman Stripe that had thousands of pieces. I poked it away at my mothers house. Then my sister found it, quilted it, and gave it to my daughter when she was 12 or 13. It's one of her favorites. I need to get her to take a photo of it. Wasn't one scrappy project enough for me? Sara

Karenmay 12-20-2007 12:46 PM

I made one of these after Chele put her pic on here...its a lovely one to do and got rid of a lot of bits and pieces of material! I cant remember if I ever put a pic on here or not! lol!

Hi Saravincent:
You mentioned the Roman Stripe and that piqued my interest as I had seen one years ago...I have my Roman Stripe blocks just about completed. Thanks for reminding me that I like that block pattern and Chele, again, I LOVE your Arkansas Crossroads and have it in my next scrap quilt TO DO file.

Thanks!

I missed this post back in November. This is such a neat quilt!! I saw this quilt done using 1930's retro prints in a recent Fon's & Porter's magazine. I was just looking under scrappy quilts in a search & found your neat quilt. Did you end up quilting it yourself?? Did you take a photo?? I'd like to see how you quilted it. Great quilt!
