Armadillos & Butterflys - Amy Butler Style - sort of (Pic intensive)

My DGD, age 7, wanted a new quilt for her bed - with Armadillos and Butterflys. She also wanted fabric from the Amy Butler Love collection. This was an interesting project with the motion and designs of the collection, I included some tone on tones to 'calm' it a bit. 2nd applique project, the Dillo's and butterfly are raw edged with invisible thread, the patches are turned edge. This is what I came up with, my designs. She'll get this in a few weeks. I'm happy with it and I know she will be too! I'm going to make her some pillows, dust ruffle, etc. Thank you for looking!

Thanks everyone - who knew armadillo's would or could be so cute? It was a lot of fun to make and I have visions of other 'critters' coming to a quilt top soon :)

I almost hit one driving though you state at night. It was a shock to see one. I will never forget it as long as I live. I had never seen one in person. I don't know who was the most shook up me or the armadillo. LOL. Sorry, I had to share.
I love your grandchild's taste. She sure knows what she wants and early in life doesn't she? Gotta love those grandkids. They sure keep you hopping. Your artistic challenge turned into a WOW quilt. I hope she lets you enter it into a show. |
