Beautiful quilt and quilting is amazing. I have her pattern and would like to make it someday. Looks like a pretty easy pattern and would look great in a theme quilt such as Christmas, Halloween or even scrappy would be nice. Great work.

Very lovely. The spiral quilting is spectacular with the linear pattern of the quilt. I can only imagine the work it was to quilt it. Whew!

Beautiful quilt and great job on the quilting.

Paula Fullager 09-17-2017 10:15 AM

Beautiful job--both the quilt and the amazing spiral quilting.

Mariposa 09-17-2017 11:09 AM

Nicely done! The spiral quilting gives it a fun detail. :)

Hi ruby2shoes, I love the quilting on this. Can you give some more details on how you did it? Domestic or longarm? If longarm how did you mount and keep a continuous circle? Etc. etc. If you still have the quilt, could you lay it flat and take a photo, showing the quilting more? Thank you!!!

Yep, done on my domestic Juki TL2010Q. I simply drew a small circle in the centre of the quilt and then folded/rolled each side up on itself, leaving just the centre 12" or so, clamping the sides with a bulldog clip. I then simply used the walking foot to stitch around the circle then arced up and continued spiralling around rolling out the sides as needed and re-clamping. The stitch length in the small circle and spiral were reduced, and I lengthened them once the spiral got larger and smoother. I've laid it flat to try to get some better pics...this is the best I could do. Such a large, tight spiral did leave me with some waving of the edges at the end but for a couch quilt, meh.....that's okay!

The spiral quilting looks fabulous on your quilt. How far apart did you set your guide between quilting rows?

Rumbols 09-18-2017 06:49 AM

Love the quilting. Nice set of colors. Great job.

maudeflanagan 09-18-2017 07:20 AM

This is now on my to-do list as well. Thank you for sharing!

Sneed 09-18-2017 07:24 AM

Oh, I can't even begin to imagine going around and around. Did a horizontal back and forth ONCE. The end is a wonderful thing.

DonnaPea 09-18-2017 12:05 PM

Thanks for the up close picture of the spiral quilting. You have inspired me to try this some time - I love the finished look.

Couldn't say it any better. I admire your patience and determination with the quilting and the quilt looks amazing!

momsbusy 09-18-2017 03:32 PM

Wow! Great job on your quilting. You have incredible patience. I have only managed a pillow sized quilt with circle quilting.

patti p 09-19-2017 02:58 PM

very nicely done. it is hard to do all the circle quilting?

Absolutely! ROFL!

No Patti, it's not hard at all, just very tedious.

Judith1005 11-29-2018 10:21 AM

Wow, stunning!! I never would have though to spiral quilt such a "square" quilt. But, it is absolutely stunning!

Thankyou Judith, I have used this quilting "pattern" on several quilts and have been pleased with each one. I also like to do all over very close vertical lines across a quilt. The closer the quilting lines the more they compliment and enhance the patchwork I believe.

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 11-29-2018 12:45 PM

What a test of endurance!! I would have thrown in the towel and gritting my teeth. It is magnificent. Good for you.

toverly 11-29-2018 01:10 PM

sewingsuz 11-29-2018 03:06 PM

Great quilt and WOW on the Quilting!

StephanieR 11-29-2018 05:37 PM

That is wonderful! I've been thinking about trying spiral quilting so it's good to know not to freak out after using so many bobbins and needles.

quilterpurpledog 11-30-2018 04:32 AM

Really beautiful quilt. I really like the spiral quilting to contrast so beautifully with the rectangular piecing. Thank you for the tips.

buddy'smom 11-30-2018 06:28 AM

Awesome quilt great job.

sue.ross.8782 11-30-2018 07:13 AM

I like it. It has a very mid-century modern vibe to it. Were you going for that?

DJ 11-30-2018 07:20 AM

The quilt is beautiful. I love the colors. Are you dizzy from all that quilting? Well worth the effort.
