I spent all of the 4th of July quilting this one. I first saw a sample made from batiks in my LQS. On the package they show it made from batiks on black, and they also had one in thirties fabrics on white. I just did a Shop Hop and one of the stores had made up their own jelly rolls, and they had one in Asian fabrics. I couldn't resist it, even though I didn't know what I would do with it. Then I found this pattern, and the deal was done! The pattern was a little intimidating at first, but turned out to be not all that hard to put together--just kind of tedious. But I love the way it came out. It's a generous-sized lap quilt, and I just stiched in the ditch to quilt it. Pretty easy, actually, for a result I'm pretty pleased with!

Gorgeous!! Good job :D:D:D
Are those all inset seams?

auntpiggylpn 07-05-2011 07:36 AM

I don't get how a lattice quilt goes together. . .

Harmony 07-05-2011 07:43 AM

I didn't get how it would go together either, but it's pretty simple. No inset seams--you sew partial seams, then go back and finish the seams as you add vertical rows. Lots of prep work in sewing the units before you actually start putting the quilt together.

oooooh!!

Would you mind posting a photo of what the row looks like or a drawing of it.

Harmony 07-05-2011 09:11 AM

The patteren for this quilt is called Basket Lattice (SPD #101) from Sheri Pape Designs. I found it at my LQS, but she has a website:

sheripapedesigns.com

I like the quilt because it uses just one jelly roll and 2 yards of fabric for background & binding. Once you have the pattern, I see no reason why you coudln't just use your own scraps, if you have enough of them! Good luck on finding this! Like I said, it really wasn't all that difficult to make!

yonnikka 07-05-2011 09:15 AM

Yes, indeed, It IS what it is! and that is beautiful. Thanks for sharing, love the black background.

The free pattern looks a lot like what I did, but I think the pattern I got is actually a little simpler. Same principle, though.

GwenH 07-05-2011 01:44 PM

Love it... where did you find the pattern for it? I saw one similar to this and wished I would have asked for the pattern, but I didn't at the time.
