This is a wall quilt I made for my Mom, she loves bears! I purchased it as a kit on clearance at a quilt shop. I did a lot of cutting!! hehe However I also did it a little different, it has two layers of batting so that the bear actually has a 3-D effect, you cannot see it very well in the photo. This pattern is put out by Big Fork Bay Cottons

Most definitely! Actually it was very easy, the hardest part was all the cutting, just have good sharp scissors! They include a true to size pattern that helps with the placing of the pieces. You should definitely put yours together!

That does look like a lot of cutting! But the 3D effect is terrific, it even shows up in the photo.

Way to go, girl! It's outstanding!!!
I have most of those patterns, but no guts to try them yet. Only have one that's kitted up, so I'd have to make the fabric choices myself. Yikes...don't get me around batiks...I get too distracted...

Wow that is amazing. That fur, what a great look

dunster 04-02-2011 07:15 AM

I really love the fabrics you chose for your bear. I think they're better than the ones on the pattern. I have one started (took a class 3/19, and that's as far as I have gotten). I also like your idea of using extra batting, might try that when I quilt mine. I also have the moose and want to make it next (if I ever get back to working on the bear, that is). Thanks for showing this.
