Baby Quilt and Big Sister Quilt
3 Attachment(s)
My niece is expecting her second child in June, so I made this quilt for the new baby. I love this pattern and have made it several times. It goes together quite easily. Lost my points when I put the binding on :(:( Oh well!
Since her first child, Annabelle, is only 3, and has a rude awakening coming for her when her reign as the queen-of-the-household-and-center-of-all-attention ends, I thought I'd make her a matching quilt. Hers is an I-spy, so she'll be eventually able to teach her new sibling to find the objects too. The large squares in the baby's quilt are 3 inches, while the big sister quilt has 4.5 inch squares. I practiced doing "e's and 3's" quilting in the larger one: Thanks for looking! |
Wonderful quilts! I know big sister will be especially glad. When my nephew had his new twins, I included a big boy quilt wrapped separately. Big brother immediately took it and put it on his bed.

Awe, so awesome to make for baby and big sister. I better pull my Grandmother act together. Your quilts are very pretty and the quilting is done nicely.

Very cute. Thanks for pointing out the E's and 3's in the quilting.

What a wonderful idea, making matching quilts. You are going to be the queen of all aunts/great aunts!

I love that pattern...would you mind sharing the name of it? How thoughtful and great idea of you to make an I Spy for the big sister...both are wonderfully done.
This looks like a wonderful way to use up a few scraps. Thanks for sharing.
I like the pattern so much and so will your recipients. I see why you used it several times. I have so many charm packs that will work well with this pattern. Please share the name of the pattern if you know it. This pattern makes a great eye spy. Thank you for sharing. Any tips for figuring out the setting triangle sizes would be appreciated. I have never done an on point quilt.
Wonderful quilts! And, great job on making one for the older sib also. It's important for the older one to get some attention also.
Love them both. I also would like to know the pattern name.
Cute quilts for the little ones.
Wonderful design on the quilts, and your E's and 3's look great....and your stitches are even. You should be proud!
Love your quilts. I would also like the name of the pattern. I know I have seen it, but I am not sure how to find it. This is the best I Spy quilt that I have ever seen. You did a great job!

I believe the original Pattern is called "Diamond Patch" by Pleasant Valley Creations. (https://www.pleasantvalleycreations....-x24574648.htm)
There's a good chart and explanation of calculating setting triangles here: http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/sites/...d_trianges.pdf |

Thanks for sharing. bkay |
so colorful, very sweet quilts!
Love that quilt design and the quilting on the baby quilt. I know how the quilting was done for the 9 patch, but how did you do it in the background squares? Really nifty. Thanks for posting.
so sweet of you and the idea of making the same but in a different size block. genious.

Oh nice....I like the E’s and 3”s. Makes a great all over!!
Great quilts! Love the jewell-tones in the baby quilt. And you "practice" quilting has been perfected!
Both quilts are gorgeous. Well done!
Nice quilts.
Love them both. How kind to make big sister a quilt and how clever to make it an I spy.
These are both wonderful quilts. And how thoughtful of you to include the big sister in the happy event. Your quilting is very pretty. The curves are a nice counterpoint to the angles of the piecing. Did you use a long arm?
