Backs DONE! One is 100 by 120.

Backs for the last two tops are done and I'm heading to the quilter this afternoon! WooHoo! VERY glad to finish the big one--100 by 120. I need a small, very small project to work on next. ;-) Pics show top--back--top--back. I tried to take photos outside but it's too windy (again!) and spritzing rain on/off. So I cleared out a table, vacuumed dog hairs, and used the family room. The last photo shows the reason for my distraction this vacation week. :o I've spent lots of time with grandgirls too. <3

Beautiful quilt, front and back! Grand-kids and baby chicks will certainly keep you busy. Two of our grand kids spent their spring break with us. I was worn out by time they left.......lol I had forgotten how teens and pre teens love to eat. They must have hollow legs.

QuiltnNan 03-31-2016 08:51 AM

nicely done

Tartan 03-31-2016 08:54 AM

They are going to make great reversible quilts!

Cotton Mama 03-31-2016 09:34 AM

The quilts are gorgeous, and the chicks are cute!

SewCraftyGirl 03-31-2016 10:05 AM

Beautiful quilts! I particularly like the second quilt with the blue border.... that color combination really grabbed my attention.

QM 03-31-2016 10:08 AM

You are doing really good work. It was nice to see the chicks too.

feline fanatic 03-31-2016 10:54 AM

Great backs! Hey I recognize that sunflower fabric in the second one! :D

And look at you giving those babies roosts already! I just picked up new chicks last night but I have an easy job of it because I have a mama hen that seems to take to any baby chick I shove under her! As long as I do it in one shot. She won't accept them if try to put new ones under her one day later. She is a bantam though so it is pretty hilarious in a few weeks when the chicks are almost as big as her and she still broods them.

QUILTNMO 03-31-2016 11:26 AM

VERY nice!!!

quilts4charity 03-31-2016 11:26 AM

Awesome quilts, love those baby chicks!!!

ontheriver 03-31-2016 12:39 PM

The backs are as pretty as the fronts!!!

You recognize that fabric? I love it!! Did I get it at Ada's? I used every inch, but I don't know what else I would have used it for. It's so pretty!

That is so funny about your hen. Having a hen raise these babies would be a whole lot easier for sure! We hope to have them in their coop after the next cold spell. How many chicks did you get? What kind? Hmm--should we talk about this in messages? lol

beatys9 03-31-2016 12:41 PM

Oh my gosh - these are gorgeous. I actually like it when the backs are so nice that my gift recipients can't decide which is their favorite!

I find spending the day with grands tiring too--they are 1 and almost 3. All that in/out of the car seat stuff. And rescuing/protecting the 1 year old... LOVE every minute!! :-)

Thanks! I definitely like the fronts best--but wanted to play with leftover fabric for the big back. I love the quilting patterns they will have. Pantos--variegated thread... can't wait to see them.

Thanks. That blue will be used to bind the Triple Irish Chain. I'll use the wood like one on the log cabin. I picked a swirl for the log cabin--looks like waves.

heather1949 03-31-2016 02:40 PM

They are beautiful :)

Cam's gram 03-31-2016 02:42 PM

Beautiful quilts! What size are the squares in the first one?

Do you mean the blocks? They are 10.5" finished. It's made with strips--2".

OhCanada 03-31-2016 04:08 PM

I've really enjoyed watching your progress on these gorgeous quilts. Please post again when they have been quilted!

BrendaK 03-31-2016 04:32 PM

Both are super. Love those chicks. BrendaK

lynnie 03-31-2016 05:19 PM

quiltingshorttimer 03-31-2016 05:58 PM

Lovely quilts! And bet those chicks keeping grandkids and you busy, too. I am the coodinator for a raffle quilt that is 96x 106 and it's like working on a ship's sail! EVERY thing you do is large and heavy! Good job on yours!

Grandma Peg 03-31-2016 08:28 PM

Very nice quilts and backing.

lol--that's a good description! Gosh--I was always happy to get it all folded. I'm thinking small for a while.

Homespun 04-01-2016 03:42 AM

Nice quilts...and I love your backings.

jmoore 04-02-2016 03:30 AM

woohoo is right... you did a beautiful job on both and I'm sure the larger one was quite an undertaking.

It must be spring... those baby chicks are adorable, too bad they don't stay that size for a while.

Taughtby Grandma 04-02-2016 04:24 AM

I like both quilts, very pretty. The chicks are cute! Glad you got to spend time with grandchild, they are precious no matter what the age!

Karen G 04-02-2016 05:30 AM

I love what you have done with your quilts.

JanieH 04-02-2016 06:40 AM

Your quilts are awesome! I especially love the second one.

And, oh, the baby chicks are so much fun. Have you named them?

EmiliasNana 04-02-2016 07:35 AM

I can see why you want a simple small quilt next. Sometimes we need to be kind to ourselves : ) Both are gorgeous with great color placement, and reversible too. Those chicks are adorable. Take a break and enjoy them and the grandkids for a few days and you will be revitalized.

Sneed 04-02-2016 08:41 AM

Wow!! You have been a very busy lady. Great work.

Oh yes! I named them after characters in books--favorites of my first graders and me. The Buffs are Annie (Magic Tree House) and Lizzy (Puppy Place books), the Black Australorps are Helen (James Herriot's wife) and Heidi, the Amber Link is Lace (Mitford Series) and the Barred Rock is Ramona. ;-)

paintmejudy 04-02-2016 09:46 AM

Just gorgeous.

MargeD 04-02-2016 11:50 AM

Your quilt tops and back are beautiful. I'm sure you and your grand daughters had fun with new baby chicks. I grew up on a farm and I remember when we would get baby chicks and even going to the feed store for feed and playing with the chicks. So many wonderful memories of growing up on a farm even with 5 older brothers and 1 older sister that loved to tease and taunt; but I loved them anyway.

caspharm 04-02-2016 04:52 PM

Looks great! You sound busy.

Annz 04-02-2016 05:29 PM

Interesting fabric

Merrylin 04-02-2016 08:14 PM

Delightful quilts! I particularly like the second one.

Lilrain 04-02-2016 10:54 PM

Love the fabrics you used.

ChrisDee 04-03-2016 12:03 AM

Wow. The backs are almost as beautiful as the tops. Really nice job.
