I had to think about how to quilt this quilt for a bit. Sometimes these types of quilts are a challenge for me anyway. I had to think about why?
During the process I had to ask myself: "Do I focus on the eagle?" or "Do I just focus on the element of the blocks?" Also I think at this stage in the game I think I have recognized many things about my "style" of quilting, right? I take the pieced design into mind and try to find lines that I can follow. Or I look at the fabric and see if I can pull off any designs in the fabric. Again in this case I did both. For the border I simply outlined the Eagle heads so they would get some dimension...in the brown areas I loosely added texture..wavy lines, wing type designs...anything to fill them in..no rhyme or reason. The blocks I did the same design in each block which is the feathery leaf design...it reminded me of an eagle feather so I chose that for sashing as well. I quilted this freehand on my INNOVA. I used Hobbs polydown batting. Thanks for looking! |
I too find that part of the process difficult... What to focus on in the quilting or how to enhance the piecing. Sometimes it takes a while before you get the "that's it!" moment. You obviously made the right decisions with this one.

Awesome!

Love eagles and love your quilting choices. Great combination:)
|
Wow that's cool....I think its one of the coolest kalidescopes I have seen
|
Very nice, Charismah! I think the curves really compliment the shape of the eagles' heads nicely!
|
And then you leave us the challenge of what to focus on! ... so many things, so many things!

Beautiful work !!!!!!!Michele

That is beautiful. I love what you did with it.
|
WOW! You did a fantastic job, beautiful
|
Love the quilt and the quilting.

Yes.... you did find the best way with this quilt.... but I know just what you mean. I also step back and look at a quilt before I quilt it, to figure out.... am I enhancing the pattern, the piecing, the fabric... or what? But you did right by this quilt... it looks great.
