After requests to post progress on my bargello (should say DD's bargello) I am giving you pics of what I have done so far. The pattern name is Surf Song, but I am going to call this one Surf and Sand as the colors remind me of being on the beach with the waves and sand.

Original fabrics all washed and ready to cut

That's gonna be absolutely beautiful!! For the past week I have been shifting my purples for the "SuperNova" in that book...just today realized that I don't have enough of 4 of the purples to get it done, so it will go on hold until I can get some replacements!!! Love seeing the progress in yours...can't wait to see it all done!!

kiffie2413 09-13-2011 03:32 PM

This is going to be lovely! I don't think I can stay organized enough to do a bargello! But I love the way you're keeping everything straight...what a great way to organize!

Maureen 09-13-2011 05:06 PM

I like it. Never did one of these. Is it hard?

ilovetosew 09-13-2011 05:07 PM

Not near as hard as it looks.....making the strip sets is the hardest...well actually the most boring part of it....you do need to be organized....and since the pieced strips are 48 pieces long, it takes me about 1/2 hour to sew on just one....but it does really go together pretty fast.....there are no points to match, no curves or funky shapes.....just seams to match and that is easy - I don't pin anything, just feel the seams lock together and then ease under the needle....easy peasy!

vivoaks 09-13-2011 05:35 PM

Nice!! Love the colors - it's going to be beautiful when you're finished!!

I am so inspired by this posting. I have lots of fabrics that I want to make a bargello from but the cutting is what stops me. Love the colors.
