Here it is. I have to tell you the costs, too. I think they are really low. Do you agree? Barn quilt (56" x 45")custom quilting $92, $14.88 for batting. Sunny Day quilt (68" x 48") was $55.49, and $18.06 for batting. Plus, they gave me all the extra batting, which will be used for ragged flannels.

AND, she had gorgeous sale fabrics for $5 a yard, of which I bought a few; and one I bought was $3.75. Fat quarters were $1 each! I bought 4. (Gee, and I was getting so low on fabrics. No self-control. ) I must saying buying fabric makes me so darned HAPPY!! :D :D :D :D

I trimmed them before I took the pictures.... And if they're blurry it's because my daughter said her arms were getting tired and I had to wait until she wasn't wiggling.

Notice the shingles in the roof! The work around the bricks is awesome. And the silos have a curve to their quilting to make it lok real. See the tufts of grass??

Ooops--I forgot there are replies--so I'll post the rest at the end of them...

This is the top NOT quilted. It's impossible for you to see quilting from this distance, so I'll leave this one up.

More of the barn quilt...
She added shingles to the roof! See the tufts of grass! And there are curving lines in the silos. And straight lines in the barn sides, except for the brick--she went around those.

:D :D :D :D

Kyiav10 03-29-2008 11:22 AM

Vey well done.

Kyia

bj 03-29-2008 11:31 AM

She did a nice job on the barn quilt! I like the brick details.

amma 03-29-2008 11:56 AM

The quilting is beautiful! What an awesome quilt :D

Celeste 03-29-2008 11:59 AM

Oh, wow! 8)

sandpat 03-29-2008 03:16 PM

How very nice!! She did a really nice job on your quilt. I'm sure you are glad to have this baby home. Aren't you breathing a huge sigh now that its all done....well....time to start another one :D :D :D

live2teach 03-29-2008 03:33 PM

She did a wonderful job on it. It is such a beautiful quilt!

barnbum 03-29-2008 04:00 PM

Well, I still have to bind it AND add a hanging sleeve.... it seems it's never over... always o-n-e m-o-r-e step.

But I am so happy to have this "baby" home. :D

Lucky Patsy's 03-29-2008 04:36 PM

Fantastic! What an heirloom! Did you tell her how you wanted it quilted or give her free rein? Those prices seem very reasonable to me!

barnbum 03-29-2008 04:51 PM

Lucky--I let her tell me what she saw--and I agreed with everything she said. I figured she's the artist and knew 100% more than my 0%. We discussed it thoroughly when I left it. The excitement in her voice when she called to tell me it was done was so cute. She took a picture of it to keep and was just tickled to have something to be creative with. When I told her I wanted an overall pattern, I could tell she was disappointed. But, it's cheaper that way for me!!

This woman is definitely a quilting artist! :!: :!: :!: :!:

That's a real keeper Karla. And think of all the joy you have given soooo many people by sharing your journey with us. Thanks much.

This came out great--I can see why you're so pleased! The quilting equals the fabulous job you did on this one--such a special quilt deserves special quilting!

Rebecca Chambley 03-30-2008 12:30 AM

A great tribute to the Mini's. Beautiful.......

Chele 03-30-2008 04:59 AM

I think you found a new quilter! She did a beautiful job! I bet it was a fun quilting project for her.

Jaynie 03-30-2008 09:48 PM

Excellent quilting. The quilt is tooo cute, but even cuter are the photos of horses in the barn doors. That is absolutely the icing on the cake. Great job!

Barb M 03-30-2008 09:56 PM

Absolutely beautiful, you have a real memory quilt there for sure! :)

Brenda Retzlaff 04-03-2008 01:55 AM

Your quilt is really lovely. You did a great job on it and your quilter was very talented. It looks like she could "feel" exactly what the quilt needed.
You should be very proud of it.

Country Quilter 04-03-2008 02:13 AM

That turned out awesome!!! She did a great job and so did you!!!

joannl 04-04-2008 05:39 PM

Barnbum,
The quilting is great. I love this quilt. Just one question though, wasn't there a block with you walking? Am I crazy?
Jo

joyful_noise 04-04-2008 06:20 PM

That's on another barn wall hanging she's making for a friend.

Celeste,
Thanks! I thought I was nuts!
Jo

barnbum 04-05-2008 12:38 PM

Thanks for letting joannl she wasn't crazy, Celeste!

I have the binding sewn on--just have to sew the other side by hand... it's red. :D

I'm really glad to have the ideas sop I can attempt some of them (not the grass!) on Kennedy's.

I 'm ready to sew the SunnyDay binding on too--it's dark green.

AND I dropped two more tops--the last big ones--off at the quilter's today.

I need to post photos of the panels I just won in ebay!

Celeste 04-05-2008 01:42 PM

Well, hurry up!

barnbum 04-05-2008 01:53 PM

I'm running Celeste, I'm running! (need an appropriate smiley!)

And I've got to get the stalls made up--and get the feed ready.... and update grades for my students....

The rest of my life gets in the way of my quilting!!!

The binding's on. I have to say I liked it better before the border was added--but now that the binding is on I like it a lot. It needed it to look finished.

The wind wouldn't stop blowing, so this is the best I could get until someone's home to anchor the bottom.

Harmony 04-06-2008 09:33 AM

This is just beautiful. You must be bursting with a sense of accomplishment! Is this going to go on a bed or on a wall--or maybe in the barn???

Rebecca Chambley 04-06-2008 09:54 AM

Very Beautiful, I know your buttons are popping with pride. Good job, Excellent taste. A wonderfull tribute to the mini's..........
