Am trying to put this top together and wonder about putting sashing strips between the blocks or just a border on the outside. Would you put sashing and cornerstones or jjust the sashing.
Any ideas, opinions, comments would be appreciated greatly. |
I think that white sashing with bright cornerstones would be wonderful -- would put more space between the blocks and give you a chance to highlight some of your great prints.

I agree with Leslie !!!

I agree with Leslie !!!

Yes, I would also add sashing. Cornerstones make it so much easier (for me) to line everything up, so I would also use cornerstones! i like the color scheme suggested by LeslieFrost
I agree with the others!
What about putting the baskets on point with sashing between?
sashing, deffinately!
I think sashing between would show off each basket. Love your colors. Hope you will post a pic of the finished quilt. Nice work
yes i 'd add more color. they are great though!!!
Great blocks! Sashing would definitely make each individual basket stand out. I can't wait to see this finished.
I agree w/Leslie also
I agree about sashing, but I'm not sure I'd put white. I think I might pick a color from the baskets. Which, by the way, are lovely.
I think it would look great either way, so I'm not much help. It's going to be a beautiful quilt though.
Sashing is a great idea, but I'd do them in pale colors that go with your other fabrics. Or just use some of the lighter ones, scrappy style. Add white cornerstones-? :)It will be great what ever you decide! Nice work so far~

Why not use some of the scraps from the baskets and do a scrappy border? Not too wide so as not to take away from the basket design. I think it needs more color...I wouldn't use a white sashing...your baskets are too cute!!

I would put them on point and use sashing and cornerstones.
I love the colors you used. Remember to post again when you get it done, I'm eager to see it! |
I agree, on point, pastel sashing, white cornerstones. Super quilt. I love baskets.

I think sashing of some fairly light fabric, but not white. Then bright cornerstones. Border should be the lovely "vintage green" that so often accompanies these lovely 30's prints.

Love your baskets!!
def go with sashing ..... but I like contrast. I'd use something to make each block stand out. Love cornerstones idea
I agree with sewcrafty with the on point idea and then sashing. The setting triangles could be scrappy. Your baskets are beautiful and so colorful!
Pastel sashing with a different pastel cornerstones. Light blue and light yellow, maybe. Or pink and yellow.

Have you positioned them on point. You can try many things just laying them out. They sure are pretty.
I think a dark green sashing would look great. White would look like the blocks were floating. Just my opinion. :-D
I would put the baskets on point. I would definately have sashing. It should be a pastel color. I think it would look best with a blue or green similiar to what you've already used with the baskets. I would have an outside border of at least two colors. You could include a thin fabric border or small piping between the borders. Another option would be to have the outside border in the piano keyboard style. It might be cute to have the binding using pieces of all of the fabrics used in the quilt.

I did a Dresden plate design and used white sashing with pinwheels in between it turned out so cute! Just an idea.
love your baskets. Would like to see them on point, also, with sashing. good job.
I would put this quilt on point. Very nice blocks.
Sahings and cornerstones! Love the baskets.
I would do sashing between the blocks with cornerstones. take a few blocks with you to your stash or wherever you buy fabric and lay them on different colors to find just the right shade.. possibly a soft pink with green .. or another soft color that will not detract from your lovely baskets.
